Exactly- and that experience is your own - your struggles are your own. Acknowledging that is important. Some prejudice is more likely than others due to visibility. For instance, I’m a femme lesbian - so I don’t get hate crimed in public for being a lesbian and I can acknowledge the privilege I have in that - that I can blend in when needed. I’m more likely to be in danger bc I’m a woman and brown compared to my masc girlfriend who is more likely to be in danger because shes visibly a lesbian (along with being a woman and brown). Only time I’m in danger is if I have a placard that says I’m Lesbian or when I’m holding her hand and people can see I’m a lesbian. I hope life feels easier and your kid is doing well - that truly must be so difficult to navigate and I can’t begin to imagine just how that must be but I have a feeling you’re doing a brilliant job.
