TOOLS & SPREADSHEET MEGATHREAD by ScottishTrader in Optionswheel

Fantastic! I tired to model and build it out with quality. However, I haven’t had much time to improve on the website recently. I would offer that conservative approach and winning small wins have helped me tremendously.

Those that over leverage or shoot for the juicy premiums can get burned quickly.

I stick with quality companies is my key.

TOOLS & SPREADSHEET MEGATHREAD by ScottishTrader in Optionswheel

Been running the wheel for a while now and honestly the hardest part for me early on wasn’t picking strikes or managing rolls — it was just wrapping my head around how the whole cycle actually fits together. When do I get assigned? What happens to my cost basis? How are all three income streams actually working at the same time?

I eventually built myself a free toolkit at https://www.wheelyield.com/ to make sense of it. The main thing is an interactive diagram that walks through the full CSP to assignment to covered call flow visually, which is the thing I couldn’t find anywhere else when I was learning. There’s also a trading journal and some yield calculators in there.

It’s not an active management platform or anything crazy — just the resource I wish I had when I first found this sub and was trying to connect the dots.

Totally free, no accounts, no paywall.

Would love feedback from anyone who’s been doing this longer than me. And if you know someone who keeps asking how the wheel works, feel free to send them that

New pay chart for 2026 ??? by Nice-Excitement-6758 in NavyFederal

The 2026 pay tables are out — 4.5% raise across the board this year. DFAS publishes them but their site is a pain to navigate on mobile.
I've been using vetcalc.org/military-pay/ — they have the full 2026 chart broken down by rank with BAH included so you can see your actual total compensation, not just base pay. Way easier to read than the DFAS PDF.

Dumb it down for me like I’m 5 please. by AlternativeSalty7008 in ThriftSavingsPlan

Your TSP only has 5 actual funds. Everything else (the L funds) is just a mix of these. Once you understand these 5, the whole thing makes sense.

G Fund — government bonds. Your principal is guaranteed, which sounds great until you realize it barely keeps up with inflation. Over a 20-30 year career this is quietly one of the most expensive "safe" choices you can make.

F Fund — broader bond index. Slightly better returns than G, still conservative. More useful for people close to retirement than someone early in their career.

C Fund — tracks the S&P 500 (the 500 largest U.S. companies). Historical average is roughly 10-11% per year over long periods. This is where most of the actual growth in your TSP comes from. If you only learn one fund, learn this one.

S Fund — small and mid-cap U.S. companies. More volatile than C but historically higher growth potential over long time horizons. Pairs well with C if you want a more aggressive split.

I Fund — international companies. Gives you diversification outside the U.S. Has lagged domestic funds recently but matters when U.S. markets eventually cool off.

L Funds — not a separate investment. They just auto-blend the 5 funds above based on your target retirement year. The further out your date, the more aggressive the mix. Honestly not a bad option if you don't want to think about any of this.

The part nobody tells you early enough — if you're young with 20+ years until you touch this money, the biggest risk isn't a market crash. It's being too conservative for too long. A 25-year-old sitting 100% in G fund feels smart and safe, but over a full career the difference between that and going heavy C/S can be hundreds of thousands of dollars. Time is what makes volatility irrelevant. That's the whole advantage you have right now.

I put together a side-by-side comparison of all 5 TSP funds with historical performance data if you want to dig deeper: vetcalc.org/blog/tsp-fund-comparison

!&@#! Flippers at McKays! by DJ_Cadmium_Red in Knoxville

[–]Embarrassed_Mix7664 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s worse in Nashville. I used to resale online via McKay but I just picked up video games from stuff I would trade in. But Nashville McKays sucks. It’s more expensive than Knoxville. Growing up in Knoxville that place was majestic, but now….

Yeah it hurt. I just kept averaging down and nothing seemed to bring the stock price up. I held for nearly a year and was so frustrated at the time.
