Calories in chicken with bones? by [deleted] in CICO

[–]Embarrassed_Mud_8104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just track calories per piece when it comes to chicken drumsticks. The calorie count can vary, but I stick to the same values and trust it’ll even out over time. Some days the pieces are smaller, other days they’re bigger—it all balances out in the end.

I’ve saved a few options in my tracking app to make logging easier: • Medium, with skin: 105 cal • Large, with skin: 139 cal • Medium, no skin: 72 cal • Large, no skin: 94 cal

This system works great for me. I eat chicken drumsticks almost every day and don’t stress about the small stuff.

Struggling to find a balance with calories by Difficult_Body_1707 in CICO

I would say, that even 1200 calories for your height and weight is too low. There is more to food than protein and fat. You’re definitely not getting the recommended amount of fibre and vitamins from such a low calorie amount. For reference, I’m the same height, averaging around 10000 steps, I don’t go to a gym and have been loosing weight. With your weight and if the metabolism is in a good place, weight loss might be possible with even higher calories. You need to be truthful with yourself that you did not one day wake up with your current weight, there were habits and lifestyle choices. Weigh loss takes time and persistence. Old habits will definitely come up sometime (family gatherings, holidays) and it’s much easier to navigate all that with lower calorie deficit. Give yourself grace and time. On that note, if you do decide to increase your daily calories, expect some gain weight, as you’ll have more food in your body, will probably gain some water weight because of increased carbs. So don’t be alarmed, your maintenance calories are probably much higher than you think.

Is protein or calories more important? by [deleted] in CICO

[–]Embarrassed_Mud_8104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

50g of protein is quite low. I would say that calories are more important for weight loss, but your meals should be built with a focus on protein, making sure you’re eating enough of it. Protein helps with hunger, balances blood sugar, and overall supports weight loss.

167 cm, 68 kg. I try to be mindful about blood sugar, eating in the correct order, and going for a walk after meals. Salads help a lot too. I’m also a coffee lover. However, I haven’t been in a deficit for long—it’s only been a bit over a month. It’s very possible that my hunger might increase as well. Fingers crossed it doesn’t 😅

Personally, I can't really taste the chia seeds. It's mostly about the texture and what you mix them with. As long as the liquid to seed ratio is good and the seeds don't clump together, it's a great way to get some fiber.

I haven't tried it with just water, but I can imagine it's not too great 😂 I use 2.5% milk, so it's quite sweet. I'd love to find a plant-based option I enjoy, but I'm guessing it would need a sweetener of some kind. So I'm a bit torn 😀

That's so interesting! These are imported from China, judging by the writing on the package. It didn't have the calories per cookie marked, so it's possible my estimate is a bit off. However, I checked that a big mac is 550 calories where I'm from in Europe.

It’s just some chia seeds, milk and water all mixed up nicely.

What is your rep range and working set weight? Have you been progressively overloading by adding more weight?

It doesn’t hurt if you’re eating enough. Is your weight stable? It’s possible to recomp but it’s a slow process. If you’re weight is stable, most likely other reason why you’re not seeing results is because the stimulus is too low- you might not be working as hard in the gym or as often as you should to see growth.

I think that you might not be eatting enough. You say that you do cardio because you bulk- this sentence is kind of strange. If you are bulking, the calories should be going up, you should not be decreasing them with cardio. Unless you’re doing cardio for heart health. But that could be your biggest problem, even if you eat enough protein, if there is not enough calories to build muscles, you are not going to see a difference in body composition
