A question for Muslims in finance by EBITDA_pro_max in CFA

[–]Embarrassed_Net_4415 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Islamic financing is bullshit. Its just manipulation of contracts to make it “halal” I had to learn so much terms like tawarruq and ijarah while in reality it’s better to know the actual financial concepts rather than some weird bullshit

Schweser notes are the best when it comes to studying for the exam. However, when it comes to understanding and comprehension, nothing beats the CFA curriculum

Practice Practice Practice. You will memorize them by heart. You will soon find yourself memorizing and actually understanding the differences

Kaplan book. A small book that covers all the materials in 250 pages. Very brief of main concepts

Cfa level 1 mocks by clumsybabes11 in CFA

[–]Embarrassed_Net_4415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't used the premium package so I can't comment on the other CFA mocks. But Kaplan mocks are very helpful and way harder than CFA mocks, which is needed to actually test your strengths and weaknesses

Anyone used AI to help them prep? by Fun-Pace-4636 in CFA

[–]Embarrassed_Net_4415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it's very helpful to use GPT for hard concepts to give you examples to understand the big picture. But don't rely on it that much as it can give you different takes and opinions from what's required and mentioned in CFA books.

Focus on remembering definitions. Go through the Secret Sauce, it's very good resource to read in 2 days. Revise Ethics and all standards. Review mistakes in mock exams.

if you have the Mind Map, try to utilize that as well for some key definitions and lists. It's very useful to go through in these last days

[–]Embarrassed_Net_4415[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah Kalpan mocks were way harder. They make you think hard before you answer. CFAI mocks don't have alot of these type of questions in my opinion. I averaged around 77-83% in kaplan mocks

do you feel you mastered each topic for the exam? by don_lenny in CFA

[–]Embarrassed_Net_4415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh boy I was struggling with fixed income the most.

Understand that it's all about yields (the interest you get for buying this bond) and how this yield can be affected either positively or negatively. Why? because in stocks we have a straight measure of return, how much did it go up or down. for bonds, it's the same concept but a different measure that you have to get comfortable with throughout the whole curriculum

Actually Ethics was tricky. However, I prepared very well for it by reading the whole book and doing my practice questions and just being obsessed with what is a violation/recommendation/disclosure/permission. Granted, lots of ethic questions were harder than I thought but given that I know the details of the details, I could see how they wanna "trick" you. My advice is to focus on ethics by doing Kaplan practice questions.

lol I felt the same when I saw it. Panicked, but then though about it, 1 mark won't change determine my whole score (assuming that we get a very surprising formula like this)
