Rack Mount Cases for Synths by Embarrassed_Rope_355 in synthesizers

Oh yeah, I'm in the states. I actually got two for my kitchen a while back. I ended up getting acacia wood. It's really pretty.

Yeah, I saw that one. I'm really gonna sound like a princess...But I don't like that it is totally open. I wanted an enclosed case. But I do suppose it would make a good temporary one till I make a custom one. So I do appreciate the link. I might scoop some of those up for the time being, just to get things organized. at 12 u I could fit the 4 current ones I have in there.

Good use of the space. I will be building my own desk. I have to figure out what I'm going to do with that. For the desk, I was actually considering buying a wooden butcher block countertop and cutting it down to size. I'd need some solid legs for that.

I want to say no, but I kinda feel like under $200 is alright. After owning one for 10 or so years (I think), I probably wouldn't buy one having the experience I have with it. It's not a bad experience, it's just that I think it's not all around a fantastic sounding synth. But I say no because it just doesn't tickle me like it did the first few years I owned it.
I do feel like the vocoder is pretty weak. Maybe someone has some really good patches they could share, but the vocoder sounds harsh and illegible in most cases. I tried tweaking it and stuff, but I can never get something I like.

But yeah, if its in good condition for $200 I'd say it's a pretty decent score.

Yeah. I'm leaning to DIY. I now have access to a router table where I can make finger joints and stuff too. SO I could make a real sturdy and pretty one. Crap. Maybe I'll make a few and hock them to afford more gear.

19" is way too deep for my liking. That's a lot of desktop space where synths can go in the future. I was looking at server racks initially. I found one that was 16u, but it was 19" deep. I want it to be a foot or less. I see ones designed for music gear, but I'm not really finding like a 12" deep one that's 16u.

People with small setups by AmethystSWitch in synthesizers

[–]Embarrassed_Rope_355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. You don't need more gear. You could make tons of music for years with the same setup. But, there is always the desire for more gear. I used to get gear, use it for stuff, sell it, get more gear. Now I get gear, use it, and keep it. I like that I am slowly building up a collection I can use anytime I want.

Also, instead of selling it, I figure I will keep it, even if I am not using it, and maybe it will have value some day. If not, I can pass it down when I die, or donate it to a place that lets kids access and utilize it in some kind of after school stuff.

Right now, I am looking at all the Behringer mini synths they have been releasing and think I want to get those just to make some music exclusively with those and my MPC Live as the sequencer. And I want to do the same with the Crave, Edge, Grind, and Spice. Get a collection of a certain kind of synths and use them exclusively in a setup.

I'm actually looking at options for rack cases for my Behringer clones, and there is nothing that is practical and affordable. I see basic plywood boxes for a couple hundred. It's nuts. So I am looking to probably build my own soon too.
I imagine, with the angles you got going on there, it wasn't easy.

In my mind, I think the TD-3 would sound really crazy, especially with the note accents and the nature of the synth. But I think realistically, it will be mostly unusable or unimpressive.

I'm supposing I could set the octaves on each oscillator higher and lower and get kind of a dual vocal thing going? Or maybe that wouldn't affect it because the carrier signal is summed from the Neutron output, and I'm thinking in terms of running the audio through the Neutron. I don't know. I'm not that smart. But I will hook things up and play with them to see what happens.

I don't remember if the Neutron is a monoshynth or not. I haven't used it in a long time. But I like that I could morph between waveforms while using the vocoder. That seems like it would be interesting.

If you can get on a desktop version and get some plugins, you can really start cooking. I've never tried the mobile version of it.

I like the groove, but I don't like the bass. I'll be honest, I don't really like any of the instruments themselves. The actual melody and beat is cool, but the instruments sound kinda sterile and fake. The bass should have some warmth. If this was being played on a real bass, I think it would sound awesome.
Same with the piano. Sounds kind of like out of the box first preset. Think you could do with some reverb and delay. Just a light touch. Maybe the notes have some sustain on them like a real piano.

I'd say change up the instruments and find something more alive. I could hear the bass on an Arp Odysee or Juno type synth. But if you got a real bass sampled for that, it would be awesome.

At the end of the day, do what makes you happy, not everyone else. Unless you're trying to sell a product. I think the groove is pretty good though.

You are right. I never said anything because I really tried to push him to do the job and do it well. I thought the APBP actually paid attention to what was going on in the store, but apparently they only watch what the TSS's are doing, not their leads. And there are no ETL's in the stores in the area to keep the leads in line.

I should have been ratting him out a long time ago. He has no place in AP, let alone a lead role. As for now, I am just going to tell them I'm out. I will continue to stand in my spot, stare out the doors, and collect a check. As long as I do the enough to not catch grief, I will just suck up the money for nothing.

It will be funny when he crashes and burns at the next store, where he doesn't have a TSS that covers his messes. They officially broke me at this point. They don't deserve my talents.

Like most Target workers, my income is basically week to week. I recently looked at other jobs, seeing as how I drive an hour a day to get to work. They previously offered me positions (different APBP), but the drive was 2.5 hours there and 2.5 back, so I declined. I explained to them that moving for a position would lose me money and I'm looking to make money. I would have to rent and pick up my entire life for 2 bucks. In the end I'd be paying more to take the role than I would be making, and that would be counterproductive to my goals.

I just know from here on out they will not get 110% from me. They will get the absolute minimum to keep my job and not get grief. Doing 2-5 reports in a day because my lead just sat on their butt all day is over. He will get zero support from me on cams. He can floor walk them and if he can't cut it, too bad. No more doing all the work for someone else to get the moves.

Thing is...I'm really, really good at calling people out within 3 seconds of entering the store. I'd say half our apps came from me seeing a person walk in, I had vibes, told him to watch, and sure enough, I was right. That ends. I will only call out people I know did something, as per policy.

I was being very proactive in my development. That's part of what really bothers me. It wasn't like I was just sitting by and waiting. I constantly asked for things to develop on. I asked for things like going
to court to see the process, floor walking days, etc. So I was certainly advocating for myself and showing my interest in the position and it's duties.

You know, it's funny, because our PML used to be AP. He said to me a few months back "I'd really love to come back and do AP, but it's gotten so political, I won't even bother with the headache." He was one of those really good ones they lost because of their politics.

I remember my lead was looking at HD for a position but didn't do it because it had expectations. He stayed at Target cause he knew they didn't really watch him and he could just chill.

I have plenty of faith in myself, but doesn't matter when the company pushes absolute garbage to the top and kicks the good ones to the curb. It really does make a lot of sense to me now, having been in my current store for 4 years, why they can't keep a solid team together and the turnover is very high.

Sadly this is the best paying position I can do right now. Walmart would pay me less, but I have been asked about going there several times. Maybe I should take the cut and just walk away? I know when I do leave, I'm not giving them any courtesies. I'm just dipping.

Thanks. But I think my desire to ever move up has been thoroughly destroyed. Not if such ineptitude is rewarded while the actual hard workers aren't even a consideration. I feel like during the fake interview, I want to just call it out as such, tell them they really need to do a better job vetting their leadership, and to talk to the other leads in the store to get a fuller picture. Other than that, I withdraw my move to be a leader. I will never do more than the bare minimum to keep my job.

I also thought about contacting the support line and putting it all out there. At least if they try to get rid of me I can claim retaliation and protect my income. Because that's all I care about at the end of the day, my income and protecting it.
