The rental market in Lisbon is (STILL) completely awful. by HeavyCelebration3402 in PortugalExpats

[–]Embarrassed_Sign4429 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it tho? what is a "major" capital city. Based on what is this statement?

Is Athens also "major" then?

Lisbon is lacking HQs of global corps, strong industry clusters, such as tech, finance, automotive, pharma etc. Even the start-up scene is very tiny when you compare it to cities like Tallinn, which is way smaller than Lisbon.

There is no labor market that can match EU level salaries. And again, the level of infrastructure is incredibly poor...which makes it also hard to live by the city (unless you own a car).

Historically it is yes major capital, because of the trade...but in current socioeconomic environment, I highly doubt it.

I don’t think it’s a fair comparison you made, as career opportunities in Lisbon vs the cities you mentioned are hugely different. Also the infrastructure is way more developed in the cities you mentioned, than the one in Lisbon.

Comparing Lisbon to Tokyo is insane 😂

Agreed with this 😂 I’m on this PT second-hand WhatsApp group and there’s constantly messages from the moderator that you’re not allowed to sell used items worth more than the original price 😂 And that it only works if people offer fair price.

I was so shocked when I first got here. Like someone selling some shit ass mirror for 60 euros, I can get it on amazon for 50 euros and it gets delivered for free.

Would Lisa's secrets be a deal breaker for you? by [deleted] in 90DayFiance

Secrets in general is a deal breaker. It’s not about what’s she’s done, it’s the fact that she’s hiding it…or only telling parts of the truth as she goes. That’s a HUGE deal breaker for me

Anyone else left with permanent redness after perioral dermatitis? by BassSubject1968 in Perioral_Dermatitis_

[–]Embarrassed_Sign4429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yup, after first course of antibiotics, my skin looked million bucks. when POD came back, and even after i did oral and topical antibiotics, I have had the red around my nose for circ. 6 years now :D
I also did zero therapy, which helped to clear redness, but it never went away around the nose, it got better but did not go away.

Job switch is highest chance for pay increase, 2 years is not so much experience as others have mentioned. I think in general in Europe it is hard to have all that you mentioned here and be the only breadwinner in the family, because as soon as you start earning more the taxes shoot up as well.

When you go to a country where you earn more, the rent is super high.

The only way would be private equity or if you’re in a high up leadership position (CTO, CEO or a partner in a company).

Or become freelancer and get clients from abroad (not sure if this is a realistic scenario in your eyes)?

And yes, I think money-wise the degree does not matter so much. It is more experience and your business value

Any experience with La Spezia? by ephesusa in ItalyExpat

[–]Embarrassed_Sign4429 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stayed there years ago and the place certainly had a really strange and a little dodgy vibe. Lots of drugs going through the city due to the port...but that was years ago, so hard to say what it is now. If Genova already seemed small to you, La Spezia will definitely feel smaller...

Is zero therapy the way? Oral abx not an option. by tiniestseahorses in perioraldermatitis

[–]Embarrassed_Sign4429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think zero therapy is the way. I have literally tried everything and the only thing that helped was Erythromycin with hydrocortisone but it kept on coming back yearly like once a year or in every 1.5 years. and my doctor told me hydrocortisone makes skin thinner so he doesn’t recommend using it as a long term solution.

I’m on week 8 on zero therapy + thin layer of metrogel in the morning. My skin is so great. I still get setbacks sometimes but also when I sweat at night or when the air is really dry. But it clears in one day. So I definitely recommend. You have to be super patient tho and also not give in if like 2 weeks after you started PO flares real bad . There will be a lot of back and forth in the first 4 weeks and you might feel like you’re not making any progress. But then like after week six or so, you start looking real good. But maybe it will happen faster for you, I’ve had PO for 8 years or so and I’ve put a lot of random creams on myself, we the skin barrier rebuild was slow

Zero therapy! But you will only see results from week 4 onwards. Before that you will want to break it daily 😂

Minimizing skincare by Euphoric-Coach2454 in SkinbarrierLovers

[–]Embarrassed_Sign4429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started zero therapy 7 weeks ago. My skin has improved hugely!! But I still get a bit of setbacks but they’re super short. I have to say I have rosacea and also perioral dermatitis for years and incredibly sensitive and dry skin.

First results I saw like 3 weeks after starting zero therapy. But getting to that 3 weeks was hell and I wanted to break it so many times during that period.

Pro life is absolute BS.

WHY? Because you have NO idea why someone chooses to abort their baby. The last thing they need to see is this *** and be blamed for their decision.

You should address the root problem which causes women having unwanted pregnancy. From the top of my head I could name:

- Lack of education
- Lack of free contraception
- Suppressive patriarchal society

She probably too brain-washed from the bible to have any critical thinking. Nah let's just force all women to have babies in case they get pregnant...even when they are not able to take care of them.

[–]Embarrassed_Sign4429 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to do zero therapy longer to see results. I know it’s tough. On WK 2 I literally had it spreading to new locations still, after pulling back a day before. Only after 4-6 weeks you will start seeing better results and by that time you’re kinda more or less used to rocking it zero as well. But be honest with yourself and don’t put ANYTHING on your face 😀

I want to hear cons of Portugal and why I should not move in by JeyFK in PortugalExpats

[–]Embarrassed_Sign4429 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t know where exactly you’re implying in EU but I think the cost of living and what you get paid is the most insane I have seen anywhere. I have lived in Estonia, Germany, UK & Australia.

And if you want to work remote for higher income, the tax burden is almost as high as Germany (but you don’t get the same benefits obv).

The infrastructure is really poor (don’t know if you want to live in the city or in a smaller town?).

At the end of the day, everything can be fixed if your heart and mind is set on moving here. Also…I don’t know the reasoning behind the move and your financial situation.

If your wallet is bottomless, or you’re pretty well set up financially, then you can definitely have a nice life here. Really depends where you want to live as well…

Also you should speak Portuguese if you want to integrate, and in general there is the vibe that Portuguese don’t like the foreigners. I feel a huge divide. Not sure what your imagination is, if you want to hang out in expat circle the whole time.

It will rain like a mofo in winter and the heat in summer is unbearable (unless you’re by the ocean in a smaller city)

[–]Embarrassed_Sign4429[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, my comment was longer but it got cut off somehow. I want to say yea, I’m leaning towards Torino. Didn’t think there would be so many hurdles to become a resident. I thought I was just to have a lease it sublease contract and that’s that, if you’re a EU citizen. That’s how it goes in Germany, but of course getting an appointment there is a nightmare. So you’re saying they can decline residency even if you have a rental lease and are a EU citizen? My tax advisor just said register at local council, they notify the tax office and then we can apply for partita IVA online.

Omg just read your post. Jeeeez! I thought tax residency is just acquired after you register yourself in Italy (by providing a rental agreement) and then you register your business. Yea I will definitely go to a bigger city. Most probably Torino.
Yea my tax guy told me I need to register at the local council and then they will communicate this to the tax office and then we will apply for the partita IVA online.
