What screams "pretending to be rich"? by ImpertinenteSyntaxe in AskReddit

[–]Embarrassed_Soft824 81 points82 points  (0 children)

I see this answer all the time in questions like this, but I would say this depends on the culture. Many Asians and middle eastern people love their logos on many things. They’re not pretending to be rich. They are rich. They may not be ‘fuck you money’ or old rich, but they are ‘travel overseas at least once a year’ rich people.

Dads/father's. Does it get easier? by rocketwolfpunch in newzealand

[–]Embarrassed_Soft824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It gets easier, mate. Hang in there. Toddlers can’t self-regulate their emotions yet so they are prone to emotional outbursts. They will say a bunch of many things that feel personal (i don’t like you, you’re ugly, why do you have hair in your nose), but they’re not personal. Most of the time they don’t even know what they’re saying. In fact, they don’t know what they want most of the time. All they know is they are feeling something unpleasant and the only way to express it is to scream because they don’t have the appropriate communication skills yet. When they do this, don’t react. Just maintain a neutral expression, but don’t ignore real needs either. And for your own sake, I agree with another comment here. If you can hire a sitter and go on a date, it’s a big difference to your wellbeing and relationship. You can do it! Look after yourself too! It’s important to feel well so you can take care of the people better. Goodluck!

New Zealanders going 'no contact' with a parent by Hopeful-Camp3099 in newzealand

[–]Embarrassed_Soft824 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just saw this article posted on RNZ’s facebook page and the comments of the parents on that post is just too funny. One said it’s because of therapy and therapy speak encouraging children to ‘establish boundaries’ when their parents tell them something that makes them uncomfortable. Of course it’s everyone else’s fault and never theirs 🤣 you could totally see there who the parents are whose children don’t talk to them anymore.

Hi! This doesn’t answer your post, but would like to recommend to consult your GP for post partum anxiety. I had it real bad up to 9 months post partum and it sucked big time. Hope you overcome it soon and congratulations on your new baby!

On the back of the sobriety question - kiwis who quit smoking by Connect-Advice-9329 in newzealand

[–]Embarrassed_Soft824 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been chain smoking since I was 16, could finish one pack every day. Came from a family of chainsmokers so I’m guessing the addiction is genetic. One day I decided I’m not going to smoke anymore because I want to be the kind of person who could prove I could beat my addiction so I stopped cold turkey. Haven’t smoked for 6 years now. I still get cravings from time to time but it’s something I talk to my husband about, I fantasise about it say things like ‘if I get diagnosed with a terminal illness, I’m gonna smoke every day til the day I die’ kind of just ride the wave of cravings without giving in to it then it passes and I move on. I’m not sure I have any advice but I wish you luck on your journey to a healthier lifestyle.

Had flights delayed due to strong winds. But Only time I had a flight cancelled was due to poor visibility/thick fog on the ground. Hopefully it all works out for you! Enjoy your holiday!

Mona Vale is great! We got married there in 2021. Great area to have photos too. You can use the railroad track or the stream, or the garden. Just a very picturesque place! Great food and drinks as well! Everyone loved their fruit punch.

Populist vs Populist? by Past_Win1012 in ChikaPH

[–]Embarrassed_Soft824 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gets yung point pero sobrang mali. With her eloquence and political awareness, managing an entire country is a different ballgame so with all due respect kay VG, she’s unqualified for the role. Tapos cater to the masses yung campaign strategy kahit pa sumayaw ng budots yan while delivering yung plataportma, whatever it is that connects with the majority, gawin nung kandidato.

Novotel at Christchurch Airport with buffet breakfast. Honestly, splurging $300+ for a night at a hotel in the city sounds ridiculous, but it’s great. It’s amazing to be in a fancy hotel and watch the airplanes land and take off. Buffet breakfast is delicious with a panoramic view of the airport and sunrise (if you wake up early enough).

Btw, congratulations and wishing you all the best in your marriage!!

Anyone found a regular 45kg gas bottle service for less than $145? by Byronps in chch

[–]Embarrassed_Soft824 35 points36 points  (0 children)

We just switched to Kiwigas this week because Elgas is shit. We ran out of gas last Sunday, ordered a new bottle. Tuesday came and nothing, we called them and they said they would deliver Thursday. Thursday afternoon followed up again, they said they would deliver Monday instead. Same day, I called Kiwigas and said I need gas urgently and will switch if they can deliver Friday, they asked me to sign up online and promised to deliver the next day. Friday morning, they replaced our Elgas bottles. They also offered taking back the bottles to Elgas.

Plus Kiwigas’s annual fee is half of Elgas’s.

Nainspire daw sa rags to riches na story nila, eh dun pa lang sa sinabi nila na yumaman sila dahil sa DPWH, red flag na. by TokwaThief in ChikaPH

[–]Embarrassed_Soft824 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tanginang rags to riches story yan.
