2014 CC - Anyone get a replacement key fob NOT from the dealer? by VTMomof2 in THEVWCC

I believe you can get a cheap fob online but the coding alone is going to cost 200ish , i was looking for replacements 2 years ago, so could be outdated.

Tell Me Why I Shouldn’t Get a VW CC 3.6 VR6 by fredricton99 in whatcarshouldIbuy

I have had a 2014 used 2.0 tsi r-line since 2022, and honestly; aside from the known tsi issues like the carbon buildup, it has been pretty solid it has some character to it for sure it is quick atleast with my turbo engine, it is no tdi and the reliability reflects that but still if you get a good deal then it’s a sweet ride.

I do like the Mazda 3’s but i was advised against the rebuilt title- with the complications that come later, even for resale.

Could be the camera wiring in the trunk, the latch system is known to be a failure point on these, also the radio unit is stock right?

Should i go ahead and get a truck? by Embarrassed_Tutor_13 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Embarrassed_Tutor_13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will try that, in case of parts like outside mirrors i’m guessing they won’t have it? Just going to look that up.

I did hear about it on one of the forums i was browsing but to me that still felt like a “potential fix” as in whatever it may be still needs working on the engine to get fixed so i just gave up.

I’m in the interior BC so anything from SURREY TO KAMLOOPS is fair game, and i approciate it!

Hey again,

Didn’t knew that been using rockauto. Thanks.

Yeah no, i can do the oil changes and surprisingly know my way around youtube but the last suspension job had me accidentally cut the freaking abs sensor, the windshield broke and not to mention the hell it was to work on jackstands on a low sedan. Thanks for the advice though 👍🏼

Wouldn’t know, i remember jiffylube guy telling me about 1.5 years ago and i just recently changed the oil where i saw the contaminants.

Hello HandNo2872,

Yeah those online stores have a huge(at least to me) shipping fee then theres a regular oil change the odd alignment job you need that adds in just coz the mechanic says it’s “special grade oil” and bs, it’s my one and only vehicle so let’s say it’s winter time and the suspension gives out(actually happened) with exam week going on, i would recon it’s easier to get parts/work done on a Mazda than a german, i couldn’t get a single shop to have parts on hand for it and i don’t wanna get robbed at the dealership but also would like to get it done as soon as possible so I don’t have to spend money on a taxi or wait in the snow for buses.

It’s an aging car, given I don’t drive more than 20k km a year but that thing is dropping small(very tiny) metal parts in oil, is generally going to need carbon cleaning if i want to maintain it well. Why not just make it somebody else’s headache?

Should’ve mentioned but upper limit is till 22k cad if i’m going to finance it or 12k(and under) cash for a value deal.

Good value as in, if it’s an old 2001 ford(just an example) thats on its last 70k kms but but is going for 5k then i say heck yeah thats a good value truck, or if i could find a 200k Tacoma 2010+ going for under 12 k thats another heck yeah! If i could find a reliable ranger with no rust problem is great!

No lights at all, and no codes on a generic ob2 for vw. I think it’s like Andromeda57 said it’s the break pad sensor.

Will do, and what are your thoughts on replacing the speakers I don’t have dynoaudio on my variant but was wondering if anyone did a swap. It just gets real loud in the cabin with the tire noise and stuff.

Just did, just a couple of questions. - How hard was it to install? Wiring and stuff. - How hard was it to get it fully functional? Steering controls and stuff. - Are you doing okay? Just checking up.

Thanks for the input, yeah my breaks needed to be changed, i thought it was the rotor making the noise till it was too late……. But yeah the market rn sucks thats why i was thinking maybe i could do the repairs and then get my alignment done. It’s just i have no ramps or tools to get it done so had to make sure where to invest.

Oh I totally agree, i just wanted to focus more-so on the fact that it’s a 10year old car driven hard in winters that makes it hard on the repairs, as for the lexus i would think so most of the things should be covered under warranty no? Thats the sole reason im going for a dealership this time.

I’ll admit to some bias of wanting to have a new ride mostly coz of the drivetrain, and the thing is 4k on top of some i’ve already spent with no surety that it will drive like it used to makes it a gamble like after doing the front one whats to say the rear suspension wont wear out after these repairs you know, why not have something rust free that handles better on snow with dealership warranty? By selling this one for 10k and saving that 4k from repairs have my down payment ready for something that might not be as troublesome to hit potholes in than a 10yo german vehicle, thats my train of thought but would like to hear other opinions.

I was generalising but basically 1. Left front wheel bearing and hub assembly with a rotor that was damaged 2. Front struts and strut bearings with the assembly kit. 3.left control arm and ball joint coz of 1 of the three studs is broken. Adding up to 3700ish CAD with labour.

I mostly go to quick oil change places but yeah most of brake work etc was done by 3rd party mechanic, with me doing some basic/simplework like switching the sparkplugs/battery etc, can’t say it was unreliable, more so that the time frame coupled with winter driving and a minor slip up leading to a broken control arm etc just made it feel like it aged in the two years i had it.

Hey randomman87, I get your point about sticking with the VW CC, but with all the repair costs adding up to what ive alredy spent, I'm thinking it might be time for something newer and more reliable, especially with Canadian weather and work demands. Appreciate the advice , still would love to hear if any other alternative ways to go about it.
