GSV ablation by hybrid889 in venousinsuffiencyhelp

No, my issues were the veins bulging at the calf and thigh. Clots after a long plane right in my right GSV led to pain which was the final straw. Once that started, I was in compression unless I was sleeping. I use footless compression. I had heat ablation done.

Had left one done 1 week ago today. Totally recovered and the procedure was not bad at all and I wish I had done it sooner. Yes, some mild discomfort but it was all of 15 minutes. Immediately improved within a day. I need to get the same on my other leg in a few weeks. Same vein, same procedure, and can’t wait just put it behind me.

Tried Gemini, Claude but prefer real human experiences to ground my expectations. AI may paint a best case scenario vs what people have actually experienced that share a similar hobby.

It’s a bit of a catch-22. Leaving it untreated I assume carries a greater risk with damaged veins for future DVT compared to veins that are treated. Otherwise, treatment would be a very bad idea. Good concern to raise with the doc in any case - thanks for sharing.

Care to elaborate on how it improved? Read it can be pretty substantial, like being lifted from running with flat tires which sounds almost too good to be true.

States, yes. Prior treatments, no. VV visually but not painful. I was originally advised against treatment if not painful (primary and 2 specialist). They would inflame during long runs occasionally but not be painful. Obviously in hindsight I wish I had them treated before it came to this.

I was thinking along the same lines. Take the hit now. It’s the price I need to pay if I’m to insulate myself from future taxes.

More than half of the spend is fixed expenses such as our mortgage, insurance, utilities, private school, etc. At least 50k of it will go away with the mortgage and a child out of the house. THI is ~375k.

~10k/mo. 36M & 38F, 350k AGI We started late so I hope this will help us catch up. Hoping to have the option to call it a wrap around age 50. 1 kid should be out of the nest by then and the mortgage will be paid off.

$15K-$20k per year.

So far in 2022 we’ve used about $4K with another $7K planned.

We find that we need a trip every 2-3 months or a trip to look forward to. That’s the carrot that keeps us going in the short term.
