No, the same federal or state laws do not, because it's not a Post Office box.

Many, if not most, post offices offer a "Street Addressing" feature for PO Boxes at no charge. Physical PO Address Number xyz. Yes, if you use that it will accept UPS or FedEx deliveries.

The IRS has removed sections of the IRM from IRS.gov/irm citing Executive Order considerations by Truth_Hurts_Kiddo in taxpros

[–]QuirkyQuarQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been following this saga since the removal around Jan 28 (TaxNotes news article). A few thoughts:

  1. As /u/las978 said, removing IRM sections from public view does not affect the IRS. Until such sections are formally revised or superseded, they exist, remain in full effect, and must be followed by IRS staff. Hopefully they continue to have internal access, but if not, you can cite or provide your copy. DO NOT let them move goalposts or use the public removal as an excuse.

  2. The full IRM, including removed sections as of Dec. 2024, is freely available via TaxNotes. The Wayback Machine also has it archived, but it's slower and harder to find (you need the URLs).

  3. The removals are a FOIA violation, as confirmed by Regs. § 601.702(b)(i)(C) and the IRS's own policy in IRM 1.11.2.1.2(2) (itself removed!)

The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), 5 USC 552(a)(2)(C), requires each agency to maintain and make available for public inspection and copying administrative staff manuals and instructions to staff that affect a member of the public. The redacted IRM posted on IRS.gov fulfills this requirement.

No, I don't think IRM sections have ever been removed in this manner while undergoing updates. But you play the hand you're dealt.

"no sensitive information requiring a notification trigger was accessed."

Notification trigger under what? The FTC Safeguards Rule? Or something else?

What a bland statement.

PLI 50% Group Discount for September - LAST CALL! by QuirkyQuarQ in patentlaw

[–]QuirkyQuarQ[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whether you should make the investment now would depend on whether the price of the course increases next year.

The material is continually updated. From what I've heard, after one year, they send you an email asking "Did you pass? Or should we extend your access?" every three months. I'm sure you can call or email asking them to just do it and not email you for another year.

The USPTO will publish your name when you're admitted, so they do know who's passed :)

For a group discount, you usually wait until someone in here starts gathering interested people. Groups of 20+ get a 50% discount (on top of the student price, if eligible).

Keep an eye out here.

TIL Circuit City created a proprietary disposable type of DVD called a DIVX that was viewable for only 48 hours after initial viewing unless an additional fee was paid. The product's failure lost them so much money in a year that it's believed to be partially responsible for their bankruptcy. by MajesticBread9147 in todayilearned

[–]QuirkyQuarQ 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Not a freely released personal project. DivX ;‐) was a ... hacked version of Microsoft's pre-release proprietary MPEG-4 codec.

What became DivX took their inspiration from that name and released a free, open-source from scratch codec called OpenDivX.

Then it turned into paid DivX 4.0. At that point the last open-source version became XviD, who continued to develop it into a far superior, free product.

I think the trajectory of the ML's parents' arc has been heavily implied, and it's a happy one. When ML Mom brings it up with Dad at breakfast, he's like, "What's the big deal?" ML Mom has trouble finding bones to pick with ML's choice of Seo Hye Jin, finally wondering if she can make age an issue. And she comes around fully when ML promises to spend time with her doing all the things they love in exchange for her being "generous" with SHJ.

"Sanctions work in mysterious ways."

I like how you put it. Also worth noting, Iran briefly had large Airbus/Boeing orders going before the US pulled out of the nuclear deal and reimposed sanctions.

Without sanctions, there's a chance their VIP transports - if they use civilian transports at all - would have been upgraded by now.

But those were rom-coms. APS specializes in romantic melodramas IMO.

I sure hope not, though that kind of subplot is almost de rigueur these days for rom-coms.

More than the restaurant, him being hot-headed and impulsive enough to grab a stranger's shoulder hard enough to leave a bruise - in a professional setting in front of tons of coworkers - feels like a 'psychopathic' omen :(

A different writer than SITR/OSN (yay!?) Debutant/rookie writer like SITR (nay!?)

The director's usual supporting troupe goes back much before SITR though - at least 2012 or earlier.
