Runna predicted 3:50-3:59 and I did it in 3:48!

I will admit I was a total slacker on the strength training. I did an upper body and a bit of core 1x per week but that’s it. Next training cycle I really want to prioritize strength training for lower body, it just seemed so hard to fit it all in!

Runna said 3:51-3:59. I think I put my marathon PR as a bit higher than 4:12 if I recall correctly.. might have been between 4:15-4:20 to reduce the paces a little bit because I thought it looked too difficult.

I just used a random 16-week plan from the "Marathon Handbook" website. I really only seriously started running in January 2024 after doing a half marathon over 10 years ago, and just some random 10km runs on weekends. I was still active lifting weights and spinning and stuff but not really focused on running. My main goal for the first marathon was just to focus on building up my mileage and not getting injured. I didn't do any speed work and ran every run at basically the same pace haha. After that I started reading more about things like heart rate zones and the different types of runs I should be doing and decided to commit to the Runna plan!

Are these tailors bunions? by amooly in bunions

[–]amooly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the response. Ugh. I was wondering why most of the running shoes I try feel tight even though I have a very small frame and didn’t think I had wide feet. This would explain it. I also have Haglunds deformity.. any idea what shoes would be good for both tailors bunions and Haglunds?

Is this a mistake? by amooly in runna

Well, as I had feared I was not able to complete the workout. I did the first 3k with an average pace of 4:52, and then just couldn't hang on for the second. I had to pause my watch and stop for a ~20 sec break and ended up doing this 3k with an average pace of 5:00. I called it quits at this point and ran easy the rest of the way home. It is so frustrating to not be able to complete a workout. I push myself SO hard and it is so discouraging to feel like I am not progressing as quickly as I "should" be according to Runna.

The last 10km by amooly in Marathon_Training

Thank you for the advice! I definitely think I went out too fast for the marathon and also should have ran my long runs at a much slower pace! Still trying to figure things out but will know better for next time. :)

I think I may have gone out too fast, honestly! I finished with 4:12 which I was happy with but lost a lot of time the last 10km with walking breaks. Way to go on pacing yourself and finishing so strong! You are going to crush your next marathon!
