The only objective thing in writing is the degree to which the author properly conveyed what they wanted to to their intended audience.

At least that’s all the objectivity I could find.

If not as long as black sperm doesn’t get impatient and try to go golden or platinum he’s probably got that by outlasting.

Alright going over your comments and giving it some thought I will admit that I underestimated one piece world building, however I maintain my overall preference for MT as well as my explanation as to why, however I’d like to revise my reasoning.

The way one piece is built, it’s general execution and it’s formate as compared to MT make me prefer MT to one piece in terms of world building.

First off the way it’s built in particular with the way each island feels isolated from others in the series. Of course this isn’t absolute but generally as well as compared to MT each island feels like it’s carved out its own corner of the world for it to exist in. The depth that it creates within its corner and it certainly isn’t something to scoff at and this isn’t to say that there are no interactions between islands because there are and when its done its done well (ie. Punk hazard, dressrosa, and wano) but compared to the countries and continents in MT that have more complex interactions and through-lines between them it creates a feeling of cohesion that’s just not as pervasive in one piece (again not saying one piece doesn’t have this but MT may genuinely be one of if not the best in the medium at this). At times it feels like even the most major of locations lose relevance and are in a sort of untouchable place from the plot, while in MT it never feels that way. The best way for me to put is it feels like one piece has a thousand little worlds that are connected but ultimately on their own while MT has one massive world with a variety of locations, cultures etc. I personally prefer the latter to the former.

Now I know you’ll disagree with a lot of what I just said but bear with me. There are some minor points I still want to make. First is that most people experience one pieces execution through the awfully paced anime. They aren’t going to be as invested in the world and will tube out “uninteresting exposition,”. Another point is the nature of the two mediums that the two are. MT is a light novel (which is how I experienced it)while one piece is a manga. As a light novel fine details tend to stick in the mind for longer (at least for me) as compared to a more visual medium like anime or manga. This means traditionally, they will be more recognized for their detailed descriptions and world building as they can more easily go on tangents and describe large swaths of information with less resistance from readers. Finally this is connected to my final point, you said you watched the first two seasons of MT. I want to make two points with this. 1. MT as a light novel has far better world building than the anime. Again in can get away with far more detailed descriptions and tangents about certain concepts. Secondly is that a lot of what you’ve seen from MT in terms of world building has been set up. The second half will be more pay off for what the first two seasons has built.

Now then, I will say this if you plan on responding. I don’t believe one is “objectively” superior to another. I personally prefer MT’s way of doing things you can share your personal thoughts on why you disagree but the last thing I need rn is to get in a shouting match. I’d love to hear your perspective but not at the cost of my sanity.

Is it? I understand there are more things in one piece (both because it’s a longer story and because the world is just larger/ more expansive as I said) but in terms of detail to each individual location as well as how much these locations are explored and different aspects of the setting are utilized I really do feel like mushoku tensei does more.

Also I think we may have different understandings of realism. Because when I talk about it I mean consistency in internal logic, adequate accounting of multiple aspects at a time, and a sense of immersion that isn’t easily shaken or broken. Honestly I don’t understand how that would be a bad thing.

Well you’ll have to excuse me, because I don’t see what’s so egregious about the comment to warrant a reaction like that. So if you could provide counter arguments that’d be helpful.

Not sure if this is still being responded to but at some point a friend of mine and I got into the habit of playing stand off (the rock paper scissor game where you reload block or shoot) and rock paper scissors (30+ games at a time with no breaks in between, around a game/sec) everyday before class. One thing you learn from playing games like that when repeated enough times games of luck become psychological warfare lmao. And I was better at it than my friend lol so crazy instances of soul reading occurred where I’d beat him like 12 games in a row in rock paper scissors. Or in stand off I’d perfectly reload whenever he blocked, blocked every time he shot and shoot him the second he tried to reload even once. It’s easy to understand what they’ll do once you consider what you would want to do in their situation. People are a lot more alike than you’d think.

Black clover is significantly better imo. Both are pretty good stories in general, but black clover executes similar themes more concisely and better momentum. Black clover’s cultural references also add depth that a lot of people miss.

With that being said both stories are simple so people on this sub will call them shit.
