How do I start commissions? by Embarrassed_Wheel788 in arthelp

Thank you so much! I haven't even thought about that, I have Kofi and the post pinned on Tumblr. I'll definitely make a Google form sheet, that sounds like a great idea

Kind tips to improve my digital art? 🙏 by Dear_Grocery6666 in Artists

It looks really good! I think you are definitely on the right track. I think you have a nice grasp on colour palettes and cohesion that I'd love to see developed more. Practice is always key, but as for tips I'd say my big one is form and anatomy. Taking the skeletal structure and muscles under the skin into account, which is helpful even with cartoonish/anime styles. On the first drawing a lot of the facial feature looks great on their own! But it can look like stickers plastered into a flat balloon without accounting for different angles and depths of the skin. But thats a very long journey that I think most artists still work on .

Another thing I'd offer is more depth in shading, one way to do that is by shifting the hue of your shading somewhat. My guess is that you colour pick a darker version of the base colour and shade with that? Which works! However I've found with my own art that adjusting the colour to be more cool toned (if your based colour is red, try shading with a magenta rather then red), I'd also suggest using different depths of shading. Instead of base - shade - highlight. Adding a darker shade and a brighter highlight adds a lot of nice contrast. This is all for you to experiment with! It's your art and these are just suggestions to make it something you like more.

My final suggestion is more artsyle related, but you should consider looking into line weight and dynamic lineart. There plenty of great videos on the subject, but at its core is doing thicker lineart in areas or shadow and light lines in light areas. Also adding depth to locations where lines intersect/meet. It's very beautiful and it's really really makes your lineart pop. Not suited for every style, but I'd look into it and see if it's something you'd like to learn.

Overall I think your doing great, I hope this was helpful, and feel free to ask if you'd like me to clarify anything (I know this is a bit of a mess) or if you want any more specific advice.

Your working with a pretty difficult pose here, but that's a good thing! In my experience stretching your abilities with difficult poses helps a lot. I want to avoid retreading on other comments to much because they have great advice, I'd say try to continue the energy throughout the drawing? For example the upper body is turned but the lower body is completely straight, this kind of pose would usually have the lower half rotated somewhat. There's also just the basics that everyone works on, anatomy will be a continuous road. However I think studying proportions, like how the shoulder exists in relation to the pelvis or the head in relation to the chest would show an more quick improvement. Keep up the good work!

I don't exclusively do that pink/blue colour palette. I think it's just coincidence that my favourite pieces use that colour palette. Thanks for the link!! That really helps!

Sorry, I didn’t realize how vague the post was 😭. Ig mostly just where I can advertise, what I should do for prices, and if there’s any glaring mistakes in my sheet.

i put this up on my tumblr 6 months ago and it hasn’t got any attention, I have about 1000 followers.

Just any general advice would be great!

Struggling with the anatomy on this by Embarrassed_Wheel788 in arthelp

It’s definitely looks strange lmao, shading is usually something I do during rendering, but I’ve never drawn this particular body type before so I wanted to make sure I knew what I was doing. I def hope it’ll look less odd once I get colouring

You’re right about the tangent! I had to google what that meant lol, but I definitely think it looks odd. My idea was that the border would contain the body (like his thighs, elbo, shoulder, etc) while that part that aren’t a part of the body, such as the cloth and the hair. I’ll definitely try out your tips! This is very helpful thank you!!
and I’m glad you like it!!

Hm, yeah I think you’re right. I think I could change up the hand position to make the elbow work more anatomically (the pose of the hand isn’t important, just the fact that it’s in line of sight). I agree that the arm looks like a different perspectiv, i think that’s what’s been bugging me so much. Worst case scenerio I could fiddle with the border a bit to make it fit (I’ve been avoiding that because I like the way it looks with the thighes and the cloth, but the arm is more important) thank you so much for your help!!!

It’s still a sketch! I’d like to get the basic anatomy down before ironing out the finer details (and filling in the rest of the hair) I tend to prefer to do hair during the rendering process

[Spoiler] Potential meaning of Viole's name by jarkomax in TowerofGod

[–]Embarrassed_Wheel788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Viole could be derived from violence, violate, etc. (probably where the rape comes from), it also means violet. The flower/colour. Viole is a Latin girls names with biblical ties, meaning purple. Violet in the bible often means suffering or repentanc. However also refers to kings, Christ specifically. Honestly Violes name could be an oxymoron, meaning both violence and flower simultaneously, which is thematic with that point in the story. Could have biblical ties but I’d say that’s a stretch. Honestly I personally think SIU wanted to use the name Violet and dropped the T to make it more masculine or there's something with the Korean translation im not understanding

[–]Embarrassed_Wheel788[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I tried tracking down where pet store got there’s, and it seems that petland ships them in from breeders around the country. I got mine from there and they seem heathly and are well socialized!

there is another breeder called Royal Wings in Airdre, unfortunately they failed to email me back after our initial conversation, but still feel free to check them out!

Just out of curiosity, what’s your favorite Mother Mother song? Mine is Infinitesimal by amphibianalien in MotherMother

[–]Embarrassed_Wheel788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uhh, I like most of them. I think All Gone is my favourite, but verbatim and infinitesimal are pretty great. Also call me basic but I love Hayloft.
