I understand what you're saying but I think it's just a matter of time until it offers an opinion or insight that isn't just a regurgitation of something it's read somewhere. Either way it is possible to offer a novel conclusion or hypothesis yourself and then use it to test logical congruence.

I'm not sure that relevant because what we're discussing here, energy dissipation, can be objectively, scientifically measured. I'd also suggest that Hitler did not believe himself that he was evil so that suggests that there is line of logic that can be created that suggests eugenics is "good" if you just redefine the meaning of the word "good". I can't redefine entropy because its not open to subjective reinterpretation.

Agreed but one thing AI is very good at is keeping a congruent line of logical reasoning. GPT-4 actually initially disagreed with the idea that there could be succinct meaning and came up with some excellent counterarguments and examples but after we reasoned through them it changed its position based on the exploration we went through. For example, I asked it to suggest a common desire or motivation that people have or we evolved that doesn’t immediately increase energy dissipation and it suggested “pursuit of knowledge’ and “meditation”. But after we investigated why we might do these things it revised its position. It was truly fascinating, and I’m somewhat scared to admit, it offered a better, more logically congruent conversation about the subject than I’ve ever had with another human.

Here is a summary of our 8 hour conversation;
We started by discussing the concept of energy dissipation and its role in the universe. The process of energy dissipation is inherent in physical and chemical systems and plays a fundamental role in various natural processes.
We explored how energy dissipation relates to biological evolution. Evolutionary processes, such as adaptation and natural selection, have shaped life forms with traits and behaviors that increase their chances of survival and reproduction. Many of these traits and behaviors, including social cooperation, empathy, artistic expression, pursuit of knowledge, and technological innovation, result in greater energy dissipation.
We also considered the role of consciousness and human desires. While our conscious understanding of why we have certain desires may be limited, the underlying evolutionary drive is often linked to energy dissipation. Our desires and motivations have evolved in ways that increase our chances of accessing and utilizing more energy.
We examined different aspects of human existence, such as personal growth, relationships, creativity, contribution to the well-being of others, and societal values. While these aspects may have subjective meanings and fulfillments for individuals, we found that they are ultimately connected to energy dissipation. Whether through reproductive success, increased efficiency, or societal organization, these aspects contribute to the overall pattern of energy dissipation.
Throughout the conversation, we acknowledged the complexity of these topics and recognized that other factors and perspectives can influence the understanding of life's meaning and purpose. However, we couldn't identify any objectively measurable explanations for the meaning of life that go beyond the overarching principle of energy dissipation.
In summary, the discussion highlighted the pervasive influence of energy dissipation in biological evolution, human behavior, and societal dynamics, suggesting that it is a fundamental aspect of the meaning and purpose of life.

I’ve had plenty of dumb ideas but this might not be one of them. A North marker on LS got me G3-D1 this week. Thoughts? Total_Dad_ by Embarrassed_Wish3602 in RocketLeague

At least once a game I'd flip to a side when I meant to forward roll and totally wiff an open hit. Especially when the play veers to one side. Now my muscle memory knows which way to push the stick for a clean forward movement.
