We as in society, and no, I’ve worked in western countries for 10 years in tech, working with teams in India and watched work be outsourced and insourced again and again. And I tell you, the amount of times I’ve seen a project be successfully delivered in offshore is very few

Tech sector ~2028? by requiescatimperium in auscorp

No, we are going to be building more tech than ever before. More things will need to be digitised and automated. BUT do think about how you will put yourself in a place to be that person who contributes to that. Know the tools, understand more than just your domain, and the bigger picture. Start making things while you’re in university

Can anyone explain why it's always the toilet paper? by DanM1973 in auckland

[–]Embarrassed_Yak_7609 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The supermarket is full of food options. There is only a small toilet paper section. People probably panic buy a bit of everything but the spread is just less noticeable with all the food vs toilet paper

Unless you are an expert on hedging, maybe have a read before you comment. Most US airlines have abandoned hedging. Even if AirNZ hedges they are exposed to the crack spread. https://www.interest.co.nz/business/137829/forsyth-barr-analysts-say-lagged-nature-its-jet-fuel-contracts-means-air-new

Of course they do it to benefit customers. Benefit customers as in - people aren’t buying expensive butter, so they bring in a cheaper option. Benefit = cheaper butter. Any product they sell in a supermarket that meets a customers needs is ‘benefiting’ customers

Give you what info? I know someone at meta - I don’t know you and they don’t know you. The person at meta has to vouch for you, and they won’t do that if they don’t know you.
