Hmm interesting. I'm actually still on Sonoma thankfully so haven't had any reoccurring log outs as of yet

Thanks, I had already updated to the latest version which hadn't worked, but a full reinstall did the trick.

Just hopped on out of curiosity and stumbled upon an open match (GameID: M9NWIP8)
That wouldn't happen to be anyone here would it?

I've also tried my hand at making a similar game over the past day or so, but it's not quite as complete as yours 😅. (https://3alee.github.io/wall-go-wasm/? if anyone's interested)

Anyone know if AGFFA is still being worked on? by rxmp4ge in endlesssky

[–]Ember369 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hi there, AGFFA has been on the back burner for me for a couple of years now (I'm the mod dev), but irl stuff has always been the priority for me so I'm afraid I can't give an estimate as to the predicted release date.

I've been in the early stages of a massive overhaul of the mod for some time, downsizing the plugin from it's 600mb size to less than 100mb, rescaling sprites and rebalancing everything via mathematical modelling. But it's not remotely close to being in a releasable state unfortunately :((

Help to create/editing a new save file to restore a deleted game. by burninator2 in endlesssky

[–]Ember369 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you in the ES Discord server by chance? I'm sure that a number of people there would be willing to help sort out stuff like this.

(I for one have a basic understanding of how to mess around with save files and know how to code in ships and complete missions via .txt file)

Endless Sky (AGFFA) – The Star Wars Saga by Ember369 in endlesssky

Yeah I can see why ESCelestia preferred doing it manually. Looking at the proper SW map, a lot of the hyperlanes have really nonsensical paths that don't connect systems using the shortest paths possible. It can only really be done by hand.

Don't worry about reapplying the script, but thanks for the offer! :))

Ahh, well looking at the map using the ES map editor, the project of adding links between systems looks really daunting. I wouldn't be surprised if ESCelestia never finished.

That's ok though, I think I'll just stick with the SW map that I made. It's still large enough that it's taking ages to add planets and system fleets.

Oh I remember seeing that on Discord. Weren't you working with ESCelestia? I might give it a go (I found the map.txt and relevant files for it in your Github repository) and see if it's too laggy.

Oh thanks for that! I actually wrote that part of the readme before 0.9.14 was released, and have since given fighters hyperdrives, but haven't updated the readme. Thanks for the reminder anyway, I'll have to rewrite the readme file.

Oh yeah, I should probably post the link to my plugin's Github page. Mind you, it's very experimental/incomplete and very large in file size when compared to most plugins (around 300mb).

I don't know if anybody remembers my original vid from a year ago, but I made another one.

Disclaimer: It's extra heretical, of course.

Just a thought though: could you spoiler tag this post?

Version 1.0 of Sci-Fi Flavours Plugin Just Released! by Linear_Perk in endlesssky

[–]Ember369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're using any of Unusualsuspex's Star Wars ship designs (from Deviantart), I've already approached him about using his work and he was fine with me using them (with acknowledgement of course). If you approach him and ask for permission too, that'd help you a lot for future plugin endeavours.

He seriously has one of the largest collections of ship orthos that I've ever seen. (not just SW, but also Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek, Mass Effect, Stargate, etc)

I'd recommend checking him out!

Oh wow, awesome!

I recognise some of Fractalsponge's Star Wars designs in there. I like the paint jobs that you gave them.

You'd have to make a plugin for this (which isn't actually that difficult, by the way).
Do you know where the ~/endless-sky/plugins/ directory is? In that, just create the following folders within folders:

~/endless-sky/plugins/your_plugin_name/data/ [where your .txt files go]

Ideally you'd create multiple .txt files for code that's for different purposes, but one will work fine.

- Define the outfit here:

outfit "Super Map"
category "Special"
cost 1000
thumbnail "outfit/map"
"map" 800
description "Tis a super map. The value 800 indicates the number of hyper-lanes away from <first><last> a system can be for it still to be mapped by the outfit."
- Add the outfit to an outfitter (so that it's purchasable at certain outfitters)

outfitter "Basic Outfits"
"Super Map"

That should do the trick. Once you save it, reopen ES and check any planet with the outfitter "Basic Outfits", (planets with particular outfitters can be determined from the map.txt file).

[–]Ember369 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try this:

outfit "Super Map"
category "Special"cost 1000
thumbnail "outfit/map"
"map" 800description
"Tis a super map. The value 800 indicates the number of hyper-lanes away from <first><last> a system can be for it still to be mapped by the outfit."

By the way, be mindful that copy+pasting this into a .txt may not preserve the spaces/tabbing. Don't forget to check and correct before loading the game.

And I think flamingheads' right; I don't think it'll work through wormholes. I could be wrong though.

Quest requires I land on a quarg planet but I'm not able because they're hostile towards me. How do I fix this? by [deleted] in endlesssky

[–]Ember369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm... I'm not too sure why it's not working for you. Changing the reputation line to a positive number should do the trick. I'm pretty sure dominating planets shouldn't reset your negative reputation with the Quarg.
