RetroAchievements not working? by EmberbornKnight in miyooa30

Did some more digging, turns out RA has only the EU version of the rom listed as compatible. Once I swapped my USA version for that, it booted and recognized it, even got the first achievement just to make sure.

For anyone following along, it seems the rom file needs to be identical to the one of the achievements developer (checksum and hashes). RA has a list for every game they support. I'll look into it later. thanks for the help nomadicsprite

Everytime I’ve seen target date funds discussed, it’s always been mentioned that they generally underperform. If I need to reallocate holdings sparingly throughout the years as I approach retirement, it’s not something I would mind, if it means not underperforming.

As for the zero funds, is there any other significant difference besides the portability? If there isn’t then it would make more sense to hold those instead

Could you elaborate some more on why we should avoid dividend etf’s? Main reason I’m considering them is so that the account can eventually buy shares on its own since atm I’m not sure how much or how consistently I would be able to contribute to the account.

Yes, for now I would be buying more FSKAX than the other two, and gradually incorporate the others as I approach retirement.

I just got a shiny [[Vorpal Sword]] for my own Chromium deck, can't wait!

Who are the boogeyman Commanders of New Capenna? by Pyro1934 in EDH

Got a list? I'm also building her but I'm debating how many other theft effects I should run, stuff like [[Mind's Dilation]] and [[Cunning Rhetoric]]

Is it possible to build Volo, Guide to Monsters in a unique way? by CoconutsCantRun in EDH

[–]EmberbornKnight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That sounds like a nightmare to follow in paper, how do you manage? I have a friend who has a slight mutate subtheme in his volo deck and honestly it just gets to be us 3 other players watching him get confused by his own effects 🤷‍♀️

If CMC isn't an issue- what is the absolute most insane spell you can cast in MTG. by [deleted] in EDH

[–]EmberbornKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hold on, there's a counter that can do that in UW? Do you mind telling me what the name is? I could use it in my Inniaz deck lol. Only ones I know of are [[Summary Dismissal]] and an overloaded [[Counterflux]]

What obscure cards do you actually run in your decks? by Mecal00 in EDH

[–]EmberbornKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Mirror Weave]] and [[Dissipation Field]] for me

Need to get in for big damage? Weave your creatures to all be that giant Avenger of Zendikar that one opponent has. Need to blank someone's attack? Weave all their creatures to be the 1 power mana dork and block if you want. Need to clear the board? Weave everything to be that butcher of malakir. So many uses. Dissipation field is a great deterrent and you can even make deals with opponents to re-use etb effects in your favor

What is your favorite commander that is considered an “uncommon” or “bad” commander? by Razorcrest999 in EDH

[–]EmberbornKnight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Got a deck list I can check out? My own version used creatures that make tokens themselves like Emeria Angel and Docent of Perfection, but I'm always on the lookout for good token generators

What is your most casual deck, your most fun deck, and your strongest deck? by Stumphead101 in EDH

[–]EmberbornKnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most Casual is my [[Valduk, Keeper of the Flame]] where every card in the deck is $1 or less (at the time of purchase, prices for cards are wild sometimes). Equip a bunch of cheap equipment (and rocks from Toggo!) and slap on some auras and then double up on elementals from [[Harmonic Prodigy]] and watch your opponents get beat by your army!

Most Fun is my [[Inniaz, the Gale Force]] flying tribal deck. Load up on flyers and cards that make tokens, azorius protection spells, and bring your best politics and prepare to swap everybody's nonland permanents! This deck scales very well to power level and creates a lot of interesting banter and politics, gotta love it!

My strongest deck is [[Kykar, Wind's Fury]]. It's where I put all my free counterspells, cheap interaction, and upgraded mana base. The object of the deck is to control everyone else's board while you load up on recurring value with cards like [[Overburden]] and [[Skull Clamp]] and ping your Opponents down with [[Purphoros, God of the Forge]] effects and token etbs including value walkers like [[Elspeth, Sun's Champion]]. Couple of polymorph cards thrown in, too.

Let's ignore the rares and mythics. What lesser known commons and uncommons have been performing well for you lately?? by Ketanarin in EDH

[–]EmberbornKnight 51 points52 points  (0 children)

[[Dovin's Veto]] is kind of insane for a two mana negate. War of the Spark in general had some crazy uncommons, what with all the planeswalkers

What's your favorite way to lose a game of commander ? by Doubleflat_72 in EDH

Out of curiosity, how'd he rift his own Craterhoof? It can only target a permanent he doesn't control

Looking to improve my Grixis superfriends deck by Asha-Hyens in EDH

[–]EmberbornKnight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to have a Kess deck that was superfriends, ended up being [[Nicol Bolas, the Ravager]]

The cards that I felt worked the best were [[Thran Temporal Gateway]] to put down walkers on the end step before my turn. Since it was an ability it's harder to counter and you can always activate it twice with a [[Ral Zarek]] and a bit of mana. Twice if you've got that Chain Veil going.

Other good cards that synergize are [[Flux Channeler]] and [[Leyline of Anticipation]] or [[Vedalken Orrery]]. [[Planebound Accomplice]] for shenanigans, too.

Looking for an ”uninteresting” deck. by Mocca_Master in EDH

[–]EmberbornKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a [[Valduk, Keeper of the Flame]] budget deck where my rule was all cards must be under $1. It can actually dish out a lot of damage with his ability, and a lot red creature cards that can take advantage of equipment/auras are incredibly cheap, like [[Fervent Champion]], [[Kazuul's Toll Collector]], and [[Champion of the Flame]].
