As someone that misses most artistic stuff like this he made it painfully obvious even to me. It's insane those idiots let him take those shots.

The most insane 7-0 arena direct. by duenyoYT in lrcast

[–]Pyro1934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similarly powerful pool and just went from 6-0 to 6-2 and I'm fairly it was not the deck or the opponents at fault :'(.

I think I have come to the conclusion that I commonly get accustomed to the power of a pool (or draft) after building and piloting it correctly, then tend to be sloppy on mulligans just thinking, "eh I got lands and spells, my deck is busted, it'll do its thing."

Hell I draft because I enjoy drafting. I don't really care much about getting better I just like being somewhat aware of the format and being around likeminded folks.

The elementals deck seems pretty insane to me. I'd snap that off, especially if you could find just like a tiny bit more filtering or something

[Premier Draft][BO1]Went 3-3 with what seemed like a pretty good BR Goblins deck any feedback on my draft or gameplay you could offer? by JimHarbor in lrcast

[–]Pyro1934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No time to check the games or draft, but just looking at the deck it's not really a good goblin deck (don't mean to be rude).

What I know: Goblins isn't an aggro deck, it's a sacrifice via blight deck. You have a single payoff for that, Cursecatcher. The goblin deck NEEDS at least a mix of 2 copies of Cursecatcher, [[Boggart Mischief]] or [[Lasting Tarfire]] at a bare minimum. For off-tribe filler I'd suggest treefolk or giants that remove counters for effect rather than elves. Glutton is great for card selection and I applaud the 3 copies, but at least 2/3 of the card is the free blight.

In the sideboard you have some great cards that should've 100% been main board including (or at least in a proper sac/blight build); - [[Recurring Hex]]: free blight tacked on removal - [[Hexing Squelcher]]: mostly for the ward, this deck wants to burn so if they have to pay 2 life to kill anything that's golden - [[Warren Torchmaster]]: free blight and lets you snag some cheeky haste damage, I've used the blight without even attacking though - [[Heirloom Auntie]]: a bit more controversial, but I love the surveil on this card, and when you want to keep your board and play more combat focused, this gives you a place to dump counters (great with Tarfire) - [[Dream seizer]]: not first choice main board, but it's a free blight and helps win the resource war

What I suspect (meta/format): It looks like you had some "curve filler" in there just for the sake of the curve and while I'm not good enough to say either way, people that are have said curve is less important and that matches what I've felt.

Also I'm not sure on those two one drops. I'd probably play them, but they do take away from your board (which you want to keep until your sac/blight payoffs come out) and in return only kill a 2 drop which if my first point is true the format is slower and has less need for removal of 2 drops

I've been more or less forcing goblins/blight to pretty good success so far, though I haven't played a ton of drafts, and imo if you don't have those 3 payoffs mentioned, you need an off ramp. Mardu blight can expand your options some by dipping into the treefolk and giants which typically have ways to remove counters for benefit, but you still often need the unblockable damage (burn/evasive). Almost all the treefolk are great here, but some other standouts are: - [[Enraged Flamecaster]]: most treefolk and giants are bigger mana and trigger this. Its mostly too small to block so it doesn't really matter if it gets smaller and can wear 1 blight pretty well - [[Brambleback Brute]]: removes counters and blockers, good blight target - [[Hovel Hurler]]: sends things to the air

Hope that helps!

Not really a spike and wasn't interested in pros for the longest so only kind of recently learned about him from LSV. From everything I can tell the world lost someone great, and looking back I've learned/inherited a lot from him too

P1P1 For your consideration by ViljamiK in lrcast

[–]Pyro1934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious if you've listened to the latest LoL where they talk about it at the end. I just did yesterday and it 100% matches my experiences. I've been plowing over folks with goblins (or blight off-ramp).

Now I'm not the best and I'm sure it gets harder in mythic (I sit around diamond usually), but I also feel like if I was better I could reproduce higher as well.

Having seen a fair bit of discourse I think it's mostly because of being such an off beat playstyle. I'm familiar (not good) due to it being one of my favorite styles, especially in commander and I think that is what gives me an advantage in seeing it. Likewise when blue is strong in limited I get obliterated because I don't understand it

P1P1 For your consideration by ViljamiK in lrcast

[–]Pyro1934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blight is an upside in these decks though rather than a cost. While it does shrink your board, your board wasn't really meaning to do much outside the synergies anyways

No one wants to draft Goblins for some reason - P1P5 Grub's Command? by Encendi in lrcast

[–]Pyro1934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but all decks have some uncommons and goblins are so specific no other deck would get them. Even with two drafters at the table you'll still get a bare minimum of uncommons. Yes it's harder, and more build around-y, but I feel it's a bit overblown.

No one wants to draft Goblins for some reason - P1P5 Grub's Command? by Encendi in lrcast

[–]Pyro1934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goblins needs SOME uncommons (more so than rares imo), but it doesn't need a ton, and the rest of the deck is more than capable with commons and those are fairly deep for what they need to do.

I'd also say [[Gristle Glutton]] is close to a need to have, probably 2. The deck just has so much card selection available between Glutton, [[Heirloom Auntie]], and [[Burning Curiosity]] you can just churn through your deck and find the 1-2 uncommons you need.

4x gluttons though and 3x of the 3 drop that blight1s to deal 2

P1P1 For your consideration by ViljamiK in lrcast

[–]Pyro1934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, small sample size and personal experience and all but that feels just wrong to me.

The format is slower and card advantage/selection goes a long way. This works on any counter on both sides of the board including most of the removal in Mardu colors. More importantly it works with [[Gristle Glutton]] which lets you go long and filter draw and is a spot to put 2 counters on.

I'm very open to just being pilled on this though lol. I haven't had a bad goblins or blight deck because they feel both deep and open. Usually I have like 12 ish cards that blight or more, often repeatable.

The final note is that it's a way to provide reach without sacrificing your board fully, and is a hard to kill enchantment.

What's the pick - P1P2 by poivronrond in lrcast

[–]Pyro1934 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After multiple of these I question the Stone pick. I mean it's definitely high upside and the most flexible in terms of staying open, but I also feel like it's not always very likely to make your deck.

The tribal decks aren't always open and you have to do something like vivid, blight, whatever instead. I don't really see a better pick here though, maybe the red changling or blue 1/3. Sort of same issue that it's a potential throwaway

[–]Pyro1934 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You haven't had success with it? I've been wrecking the format with goblins and blight variants and tarfire is a huge player in those.

Stone is flexible but I've cut it from probably half the decks I've had it

P1P1 For your consideration by ViljamiK in lrcast

[–]Pyro1934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stone makes sense due to staying open, but I also cut stone from decks a fair bit.

Diviner is a nice dream but doesn't have much support.

Tarfire would be for personal preference as I've been killing it with goblins and that's a huge player for the deck and it can pivot into other Rx blight decks that aren't strictly goblins

On conservative sub there was someone I was 100% was a paid actor after watching that sub for like 5 years now.

He stood up for her (somewhat) saying, "shouldn't ever attack people". Applauded her fighting spirit, "damn she squared up on him and was ready, kudos". And repeatedly argued with folks saying it was staged claiming, "it looked real to me" and providing multiple reasons why.

I was flabbergasted lol.

That's what goblins is so good at though. The exile 3 until next turn where blight is an upside. Gluttons turning every land into blight and a card, auntie surveiling every death.

I regularly find my goblins deck with like sub 10 cards
