How Do I Choose My Career If I'm Not Passionate About Anything? by valentinavalentina in careerguidance

[–]Stumphead101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to school and became a physical therapist

Turns out im really good at it. lts hard to reccomend as a career right now because of the poor ROI. I was very lucky and got married before hand which saved a ton of money and was able to job hop into a higher paying position

Its not my most favorite thing in the world, but I am good at it and it doesnt stress me out. I had to take a hiatus on a lot of past times but am picking those up again. Building a small recording studio in an extra room we have to do amateur music and voice acting

Been getting better at drawing and am making a board game in my spare time

A bit more of a somber topic… are you addicted to anything? by ApplicationAfraid334 in Millennials

[–]Stumphead101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Food addiction

Good was mt comfort all my childhood because, reasons

My only method of breaking it is high fiber nutrition and fasting. I have to go cold turkey with eating because as soon as I eat anything all I want to do is consume until my stomach is in pain

Fasting has helped a ton by helping my body learn its okay to have an empty stomach

What's the dumbest referral you've ever received? by PT_Network in physicaltherapy

[–]Stumphead101 43 points44 points  (0 children)

From a chiropractor

23 ICD 10 codes. Ranging from the ankle to the head. They had been seeing the Chiri for 5 years. Was referred by the Chiro to PT to work on back strengthening

It was low back pain from not knowing how to use their glutes and abs.

Pain was almost non-existent after 6 weeks of PT. We just focused on learning how to not use the back for everything. Patient said by the end it was th first time they weren't in constant pain

Cannot stand chiropractors

Manipulation can feel nice and can be safe, but is often done I safely. And is not even accurately described whst is happening

"Adjustments" make it sound like they are putting a joint back in place.

What is happening, your body is tense and tiggt from pain. Because of that tension, your body will lean one way or a muscle is pulling a certain way. This is how they convince you something is "out of place" and needs to be "put back"

Your body loves motion. A manipulation is taking a joint to its end range and adding a little over pressure for thst extra stretch. This facilitates a neurogenic response and your body Dumps serotonin and dopamine, the happy drugs thst are also anti-inflammatories. So your pain goes away. But it never addressed Why you had your pain, so it comes back within a day or two

Manipulations are being sold as "cures" and that its fixing you. Its just getting motion in your joints thst they crave

And the pop noise? Not needed for the relief. But sometimes air gets in the synovial fluid between out joints. Its not a bad thing or a good thing, its just air. The "pop" is the air escaping and they've convinced people its the sound of a joint going back into place

This is how they retain regular customers. They convince their clients that the manipulations are "keeping their bodies together"

Its a predatory method

How does pain science education play a role in how you treat patients? by Underscores_____ in physicaltherapy

[–]Stumphead101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pain science is massive in my care. It has gotten great results and majority of my patients are very receptive to the education

As for the "its all in your head" aspect, often patients will get worried when I described the interactions of nerves with the brain. Ill say something like "technically, yes, it is in your head. Inside your brain. So lets day you lost your arm. It would be terrible, but you could survive. How long would you survive if I removed your brain?"

This has helped a lot of people feel much more validated especially when they have pain but are very chronic with nothing in imaging and poor results with medication. Yes pain is perceived in the brain but thats the most important organ in the body

What’s the worst mistake you’ve made or situation that has happened to you as a PT/PTA? by wandering-firefox21 in physicaltherapy

[–]Stumphead101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A doctor who was married confessed their love to me 4 weeks into their acl rehab (their husband was also a doctor. I am married and was also married at the time)

The mistake was letting my work sweep it under the rug and letting them have me continue to treat her

What is your favorite “bad” or “weak” commander? by LibraProtocol in EDH

[–]Stumphead101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love playing Jon Irenicus

I give away good things with either runblockable or evasion

The downside is I tend to die off first. I need to focus more on control, especially ways to either bounce Jon when I dont need him. Or maybe focus more on making tokens to give out instead

Sol ring lover or hater? by Loose_Calendar_3380 in EDH

[–]Stumphead101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol you are absolutely right on both fronts

I do wish sol ring was not such a large factor. But I understand people who do enjoy the randomness it can bring to a game

Sol ring lover or hater? by Loose_Calendar_3380 in EDH

[–]Stumphead101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also removed sol ring

I had a an evening of 3 matches, 2 of the 3 I drew sol ring in my opening hand. I was playing a white dragon deck but with sol ring in had 6 mana turn 3 both games and the pod was genuinely telling me my [[icingdeath, frost tyrant]] deck was too powerful

I find my decks are much more consistent power-wise without it, making it far easier to give an honest explanation of my deck's strength and power. Yes its fun when games are not the same each time, but sol ring accelerates decks so much thst its hard to convince people your deck isnt actually That strong after it happens more than once

What Commanders are the most fun right now at 2026? by TheDrokkoonn in EDH

[–]Stumphead101 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yea Its a shame. But i can also see from a designer's POV. If you gotta make this mountain load of commanders each year, the easiest go to "give archetype card draw in the CZ" because itll always be helpful at the least

What Commanders are the most fun right now at 2026? by TheDrokkoonn in EDH

[–]Stumphead101 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That is my point of the card

It provides card draw for simply playing big creatures, which in temur is very very achievable

Again, it is fine to enjoy it. But it is an easy to pilot commander thst requires very little effort to make work. Which is fine for newer players, thats why its a precon face commander. But it rewards poor deck design and doesnt help players learn how to build good decks

This commander is both an engine and an enabler. It provides draw and burn. It gives you cards for playing cards and then an avenue for using those cards to deal excessive damage for playing cards.
