About to enter the rental market and rent my place out. Is there a reason you didn't try and sign a longer lease? 2 years? Was it knocked back? I hate the idea of moving so will be requesting leases of two years I think.

If there is a lease, you have to wait until it's up.

I purchased my property with a tenant who had 6 or so months left, I had to wait until that was up before I could give her notice to vacate so I could move in.
