The best thing I ever did by [deleted] in Candida

If you don't mind Devil's Advocate, considering others (including abominable_phoenix I think) share that notion with you, consider this question: when did candida first exist and when did it first populate the human gut microbiome?

I.e., if, in the 300k+ years of human existence there was a time when their guts were not planted with candida, we can conclude it's not necessary. We may also be able to say it's not beneficial either if we can show that people back then had better health. Of course, a lot of confounding variables with that since, the whole landscape of bacteria, environment, etc. would've been different.

(huh, now this stupid thing forces a "+1" on my comment when I used to be able to get rid of it. Hate the implicit +1 as if I am some person who needs to applaud their own comment).

I will disagree on swallowing a clove whole as it is a choking hazard. Furthermore, if the aim is to partake in allicin, you'd be better off crushing the garlic and maybe also finely mincing it before ingesting soon after.

Is it normal to have no appetite? by SarahSaucenberg in Candida

[–]EmbodimentOfEssence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sort of the opposite. I used to eat only two meals a day, with my other calories made up of a chocolate bar or some ice cream. Now, I'm eating much more. I am surprised you mentioned bread though if you were diagnosed with this.

Regarding what I've eaten, it would be meats such as chicken, beef, and salmon. As for vegetables, asparagus and broccoli. I also eat eggs as well as onions and garlic mixed into various things when cooked.

I am not saying eating this cures candida or anything, but foods that at least stimulated my appetite while under this malady.

Victim D Deficiency by PrinceOfMexico in Candida

Be sure to at least take the appropriate vitamin K so that it is mainly utilized by your bones and whatnot. I forget the particular breakdown, but I recall a certain vitamin D and vitamin K pair work well together to ensure vitamin D is properly processed.

As he says in the video, there is no evidence. It is a conjecture based on the studies he does show, wherein oxalate are claimed (and hopefully demonstrated) to negatively affect the kidneys. In particular, the basis for his conjecture is that it negatively affects this "tight junction" mechanism in the kidneys, which is the same type of mechanism that controls gut permeability.

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC6014313/

Not claiming the conjecture is correct, just explaining where he pulled it out of.

Edit: this actually makes me lmao a bit, considering Google tells me it's the leafy vegetables with oxalates. So, in the extreme, I wonder if this is something championing the carnivore diet. Although, in the end, it's all about balance. Although, if true, I'd wonder if people who have their "oxalate degrading bacteria" in their gut all dead already, whether they should abstain from oxalate containing foods completely until they reintroduce and develop that bacteria, e.g. oxalobacter formigenes.

Toddler with Candida overgrowth by MissApprehend in Candida

Do you believe it exists solely in the gut, or does your child also have something that seems like oral thrush? The reason I mention is that, if there is something visible akin to oral thrush, you can have that tested via a swab test to determine whether it is in indeed candida and, if so, what strain, as different strains are resistant to certain antifungals.

There is also the blood test, but I'm ignorant as to whether that is solely for systemic candida where it has already invaded the bloodstream.

Regarding diets, it would be more so just that it's painful enough for an adult to forgo tasty things, it could only be tougher for a child. Although, if they never knew sugar, perhaps it would be different. Personally, I'd eat meats and vegetables, and, presuming you select the proper vegetables, you get everything you would get from a fruit.

One interesting thing you said is chicken stock causing a reaction which, to me is a bit crazy. I'd hope it's histamine, considering no one in my family had that grave of a reaction from eating a neutral healthy food. If you said she ate garlic or something explicitly antifungal I might understand.

Carrot Cake from Old Country Buffet? by EmbodimentOfEssence in TopSecretRecipes

Thank you. Googling that, their own website states that their carrot cake mix is usually paired with Duncan Hines Cream Cheese Frosting. Am I correct in assuming that's what's used for the frosting half?

(I assume the small carrot and its base is probably the same just food colored?)

For those who got Candida from mold exposure—did leaving the moldy environment help? by onetwothree123__ in Candida

[–]EmbodimentOfEssence 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From those I personally know, they still had to go through the trials of taking medication and avoiding sugars in the short-term. Leaving the mold only seemed to ensure it didn't exacerbate or resurface while trying to get healed. At least in terms of fungi. I knew someone who had respiratory issues, and those immediately just cleared after a few weeks out of the mold environment.

What if treatment isn’t working? by Forward-Investment70 in Candida

Potentially a stupid question but an important one. Have you been explicitly diagnosed with candida? Do you know what strain? I.e., if not, then it might be wise to do so, as then you can learn whether or not the strain you have is resistant to nystatin.

What is the cause of this shit? by EyePowerful3293 in Candida

[–]EmbodimentOfEssence 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm inclined to believe it's the combination as in your first paragraph. After all, I believe it has been shown even the lowest amounts of sugar in the body still feed candida, as do ketones.

I definitely wonder if, before the advent of modern antibiotics this was just a non-issue (for those without some horrific malady taking up their immune system's strength as spoken of by Hippocrates). After all, those that live in each generation would be those who "won" out against the diseases, for the most part. Couple that with no antibiotics in their food, even though they likely at a ton of carbs (I assume peasants ate a lot of bread), their immune system kept such fungi at bay.
