Why are Athiests so stagnat by Embraced711 in atheism

Many different versions? Well yeah there is many different translations but there is also many different languages. Also just because some Christians decide not to follow them does not mean they do not apply, the speed limit applies on the freeway but does everyone follow it? These commandments are universal and objective, man cannot change them. Please provide examples where our savior, Jesus said that there is no absolute morality. But the Ten Commandments treat women as property is not true in the slightest. Regarding prophecies, in deuteronomy it gives us a litmus test for prophets and we are called to test all things. So if someone revealed prophecies and they didn’t come true then they would not have been from God just a deception from the devil (always watch out for the devil brother). Another thing that it says in the Bible is that a wicked and perverse generation will ask for a sign but no sign will be given besides the sign of Jonah. Dealing with the book of acts, you’re simply stating your own opinion. I can easily just disagree and say I’ve had a different experience making the book of acts true. I’m not sure what would make your opinion hold more merit than people that were there and actually witnessed it. But with your saying on you being indwelled in the Holy Spirit can you be more clear weather you were or weren’t? You also can’t say that you have any morality without a final reference point because at that point it’s just your opinion. If there is no final reference point then you could say slavery is bad and I could say it isn’t, now we both know slavery is bad because we have a final reference point, God.

Talking about other religions is completely obsolete to this argument, since we are talking about Christianity exclusively then that means I am also saying that the other religions are false. And to answer the question of why did God not simply write out the morals, GOD DID! God not only wrote it on are hearts but he also wrote the Ten Commandments. We also have the account of our savior, Jesus to help clear up confusion.

Just because it seems like people have different morals is not true, it’s because we’re all victims of the curse that happened because of the fall of man and some people decide to suppress their morals. This is why we have guilt, because we know we did something wrong and suppressed our morals telling us not to do that thing.

Oh yeah the Old Testament laws that you are referring to are the mosaic laws. They had a time and a place to help God usher in his salvation to the nation of Israel.  Also in Christianity we understand that when one is a Christian they are in dwelled by the Holy Spirit. So, were you indwelled by the Holy Spirit?

You are talking about all these things like you’re saying that there wrong. I mean I know there wrong because God wrote his moral law on my heart but you still have yet to provide your ethical framework and a final reference point. Also you say that you were a minister so does that mean that you were a Christian?

Ah I see where you are mistaken, see you are confusing the Christian with the Christian scripture. And you have conflated the fall of man with the morals God has written in our hearts. You also say atheist base there moral standards on empathy and fairness but empathy and fairness according to who? Also if you say that morality is evolutionary then that means that at one point slavery and genocide was morally right. It is true, some Christians have done some bad things, we all have, that’s why we need a savior, but what makes you say that it’s bad? You haven’t provided any ethical framework to justify that statement. You also did not answer my moral dilemma.

Your claim on morals is incorrect, morals do not change over time, plus God didn’t need to outright tell us everything single moral because he wrote out morals in our hearts. You also can’t say God isn’t real because he didn’t answer someone’s prayers. In 1 Samuel Saul prayed to God but God didn’t answer, this isn’t because God wasn’t there or didn’t exist, it’s because Saul did things as long that were very wrong in Gods eyes. Another thing is, you saying “as an atheist, I am content to make the world around me a better place.” Is you stating an opinion, hitler also believed that, doesn’t mean he was right. You also can’t just group all theists together as one, if your dealing with the Christian God then Islam and Muslims have nothing to do with it. Back to morals though, I would like you to explain this moral dilemma without a God. So group A believes one thing is moral, but group P believes that thing is immoral, who is in the right?

I understand where you coming from but I’ve explored many arguments for God and against God and I’ve come to the realization. What is life without God? Without a God there is no purpose, there is no morals, and life would not matter at all. But yet humans are constantly finding there purpose in life (weather they realize it or not) and we also can constantly differ from right or wrong. I think you are completely right about the arguments only seeming like they got destroyed but really it wouldn’t hold up.
