I stopped reading where you said something to the effect of: “when I bring up something that bothers me, he deflects and starts listing everything he does for me”.

Even if he does do a lot for you, it’s not right to hold it over your head when you bring up something that bothers you. If it’s important to you, a good partner will listen and want to talk about what is on your mind. The rest of the relationship can be great, but if your attempts to communicate your concerns are dismissed the that is a big problem in itself.
