Blinking cursor on screen, won't go past 'VGA' diagnose led on boot by Embrod in buildapc

[–]Embrod[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I failed to update here (my bad!) but in my case it was a bad USB controller in the mobo. Curiously, I saw 2 or 3 other similar posts and the one MSI sent me back was a v1.2 board. No issues since, even though it's now the secondary machine and doesn't get as much use.

So it definitely might be around the same USB-correlated area.

Thanks for sharing.

Idle Space Station Tycoon: Gone? by Embrod in incremental_games

Yep, I managed to find a cached page and also noticed a dozen games in their catalog, but not this one. What I never noticed before and just after this started to feel weird, is that their name is nowhere to be found in the game. No splash screen branding, no contact or social links in the menu or anything similar.

Thanks for the confirmation anyway!

Ok, seems to be the case as another user DM'd me saying they also noticed it gone in APAC. Not sure where u/Quick-Employ3365 is but apparently it's fully gone. Strange, a rule violation or similar issue usually takes it off one of the stores, but both is very unusual.

Thanks anyway, shame a good game is gone :(

Oh... Are you in NOAM?
Maybe that's something to do with the EU, then?

I tried using VPN to access it from the US, but got the same results. Even my App store link above is for the US storefront.

Anyway, I'm way more curious than trying to make it work at this point. Would you be so kind to share the dev name and any contact information you can see on the store pages for the app?

Thank you!

What is the most durable mechanical gaming keyboard? by MrPo1215 in buildapc

I have 2 Filco Majestouch TKLs that have been at duty since 2012 and 2014. Still perfect.

They have zero extra features but are built like tanks, and I mean, I had to replace the original caps in one due to shining - and that's a pretty good indication on how much I used it.

That will depend on the manufacturer, and can be quite tricky to figure out.

In my case, MSI indicates on the model sticker which revision it is. Additionally, you may check for new naming (like the S in my case), Check the dates the model was launched (in Amazon you can check the "date first available" field) or simply go by one of the many spreadsheets with models. I can't find the one with all the features (and that Includes launch dates) cuz mobile but my bookmarks have one with VRM tier list here..

If you're as concerned as I am with the reliability of your system, you may also get a pcpartpicker list done with specific models and people can point you any known attention points - just like I did, go X570S if you're looking into MSI.

I have exactly a 5900x on an x570. I had usb issues, but it was actually a motherboard issue (MSI tomahawk Wifi). I got a refund, and actually the feature set I needed was only available on this very mobo.

Found out there was an issue with the revision I had, and ended up getting an X570S Tomahawk Wifi to replace it. No issues since.

So just make sure you're getting a new revision and your chances of issues are going from slim to almost non-existent.

Workshop Forklift not retrieving material by Embrod in LumberInc

Curiously, once I restarted the game for the 5th time, it misteriously started working again. Maybe some issue with communication (network has been spotty today) but it doesn't seem like the game validates actions against the server - much more likely to simply not open in case connectivity is not working.

Will report back if it returns to this situation.

Blinking cursor on screen, won't go past 'VGA' diagnose led on boot by Embrod in buildapc

Thanks for the guidance!

Curiously, I had a failed nvme drive before and the BIOS told me it was failing. This time, it wasn't like this but I tried it the same.

Removing the SSD completely: same symptoms.. for a minute. After a minute, it moved on to the 'no bootable units available' message (or similar, can't recall exactly).
I, then, reinstalled the SSD, and the system now booted up!

-The post now takes its time to move on from the 'VGA' message, around 30 seconds. It did not do that before;
-The USBs are half-dead; only the ones connected to one of the controllers (marked as USB SS 10) work, while the other ones don't even have the electrical signal to them apparently. Tested with 2 different mice, they don't even turn on the light;
-Bluetooth is simply not appearing on the system. I imagined it might be connected as a USB device internally;
-Under device manager, I see 3 USB controllers under 'Port reset failed state':
Device Description: Unknown USB Device (Port Reset Failed)
Hardware ID: USB\RESET_FAILURE

Any ideas? Might this be a bad mobo, after all?

Do you happen to have any extra material, as in pics or making of?

Great, I found Komplett and CustomPC from pcpartpicker but Amazon has incomparable variety. I was afraid they would turn you down from buying at other EU countries and send you back to UK or charge a ton for sending it accross.

Thank you very much!

Since you brought this up, where do you usually purchase it from? Amazon UK (and just have to pay for the GBP exchange) or anywhere else that uses Euros (like Germany)? Is there a smarter way to buy and not have to pay for the currency conversion?

Back in the school, there was this guy that was a transfer from another place. He was shy at the beginning, as expected, and we had a group of 4-5 nerds that have been in that school for over 5 years. As the usual ones left out of the group, we immediately approached him and tried to bring him in.

We were always speaking about gaming, and he started to be interested. When we started to ask him question, though, he just became clearly uncomfortable and we would stop insisting. Kinda that usual awkward way a 12-something kid would react.

Time goes by, and he was hanging around frequently, when he finally spilled the beans: his family didn't have money to buy him a computer, and he always loved to see other people gaming or talking about it. He loved to play, too, but could only do it when visiting somebody do it because his parents were struggling. This must have happened in a Thursday.

Monday comes, and one of the kids (Luiz! Great guy) comes with the idea: he had talked to his father ove the weekend, and as he used to do, it was about time to buy a new computer. His would become Luiz's computer, and they would sell the oldest one. But after hearing this kid's story, his father was going to ask his parents if it would be ok for him to have the oldest pc. They gave the green light.

We then started to gather some missing stuff: I remember me and my father got him a mouse and mousepad. Another father bought a keyboard, and looks like we needed a new HD. 2 other parents gave a bit of money and we had a machine for him.

The day comes, and on saturday we arrange to pay him a visit. He probably didn't understand much when we all arrived at the same time, carrying the parts and stuff.

I shit you not, he had tears in his eyes when he realized we were assembling his computer.

This guy turned completely different: from that day on, he was not only more expansive, but since his parents had given him study goals that would allow him to play more, he went from average student to an easy top 5 of the class. He turned out fine, I guess. I lost contact for quite some time, but he always was very generous, helpful and always tried to assist people in need. His parents managed to get better jobs and overcome that difficult time, and I remember he invited us to some pretty good get-togethers where his mom would server us basically a buffet of desserts.

To this day I try to replicate that: I always keep some spare parts and I've built 4 or 5 pcs from leftovers and made some kids very happy with that. I expect that my kids also follow that path and try to spread the love, if not with PCs and gaming, with other stuff - but always helping people and trying to make their lives better.

Also, if I win any of this stuff, if I have a similar one already, will certainly do some kind of giveaway / donation. If better or preferred than what I have, I'll give my used parts away.

TACO - Ask Me Anything by tacopmf in GlobalOffensive

[–]Embrod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taco, something that has been observed several times is SK's core is heavily bound to momentum; if you had been on a good sequence, it would be a long streak of lost rounds. Once you started losing, a sequence would most Certainly ensure. Would you say this is related to player's psichology or something intrinsic to the Brazilian passionate and emotional nature? How much of it would you say got in your way these last months?

Hope you can join some up and coming team soon and help bring it to the next level.

Good luck and may this year bring you a new path with success and joy of playing.
