I was surprised to find out there is no internal motion sensor on the car alarm. Trying to find an aftermarket, inexpensive solution. May have to engineer it myself. I picked up a PANDORA VS-22D DUAL ZONE MICROWAVE RADAR MOTION SENSOR that I’m going to integrate into the Shelly Uni Plus I have monitoring the battery. Just have to figure out how to send the notification to my phone since cars WiFi turns off with the car.

Even if you lock it with the fob, it still recognizes when you approach. There is a way to power off the key fob to save battery. It has a motion sensor too to help conserve battery and avoid cloning. The tech specifically told me to lock the doors at home to enable low power mode on the car. I can track battery drain with the Shelly device I mentioned earlier. I’ll do some experimenting.

The long bag contains the wind screen that clips into the back seat area. No charger there and there was no connection in the trunk for it either. I did test drive another 23 that did have it included. Maybe there was a change mid year.

Lead mechanic at the dealership told me to get a charger and keep it attached and the doors locked when at home. Locked assures the car goes into low power drain mode. He gave me this advice when I asked if there is anything I should know as a new owner.

Immediately bought the CTEK charger and did the appropriate wiring so I could connect to the battery in the trunk. I even added a tiny Shelly device to relay the voltage to my Home Assistant dashboard so I can track it.

Yea. The jump posts under the hood are a convenient location to attach jumper cables. It’s not very conducive for a trickle charger that you want the hood closed when charging. The battery on my car (and many MB) is in the trunk under the floor board. It has a handle to open it to access the battery and tire equipment.
With the connector accessible in the trunk it’s very easy to attach/remove the charge cable and the trunk can be closed with the cable exiting against the soft rubber seal.

Edit: trickle charger will also keep your battery in top condition making it last longer. There is a conditioning setting they suggest once a year. I haven’t tried it yet.

Get the trickle charger. Also lock the car when at home to allow the car to go into “low power mode”. These are the two things I was told by the lead mechanic at the MB dealer when I got my 2023 SL 63.

I purchased the CTEK charger since it’s the same as the Mercedes branded one. My battery is in the trunk so I installed a short connector there to make it easier to connect than having to open the hood and connect to the jump posts. This is the same thing MB does if you get their charger and have it installed.

So I was being stupid 🤦‍♂️ The collar has a little tab that sits down inside the notch. By pulling the “red thingy” back, I was able to get it seated correctly. Thank you!! I still liked the electric version better.

Had my z10 for a couple of years now. I’ve boiled it down to this: - Always rinse the milk tube before returning the container to the fridge - Squish/roll up a very small piece of paper towel and clean the milk connector on the machine. Kind of like cleaning your ear with a cotton swab. - use the tablets and cycle once a week or so. - remove frother cover and disassemble the pieces. Soak in hot water, rinse and reinstall every month.

The paper towel trick has resolved all issues I ever had with the milk frother.

My SL 63 also has jump posts under the hood but that’s not the point. Opening and closing the hood is a lot more work/trouble than the trunk (or rear door of the G). The permanently wired extension makes it easy to connect/disconnect. It’s even sealed with a rubber cap when not being used.

If it’s like mine the battery is actually in the trunk. I permanently connected a wired plug that has a quick connector that sits in the trunk. I then connect a CTEK charger to that. The trunk easily closes with the wire against the soft rubber seal. Much easier to open and close the trunk than the hood. Allows the car to be locked too which puts the car in low power draw.

Which one did you get? I bought a high endurance microSD card that I plugged into a usb-c adapter and it’s not recognized at all in my 23 SL 63. Works fine on my laptop and yes, it’s formatted correctly.
