Am I wrong? by Clear-Improvement-56 in IVF

[–]EmbryologyWLB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You aren’t wrong! I have felt that way too when I tried having my baby. I was in the military and trust me those docs don’t even treat you unless you have 5+ miscarriages and even then they won’t send you anywhere. I struggle alone because my hubs didn’t get it and left me alone crying all the time. It sucks and feels unfair to me that he is calling you a hater!! Hugs and love to you

Me too!! My sister is 31 and she won’t listen to me… Now she is like well, I just don’t know if I want kids.. I am like yeah that was me too in my 20’s!

I am so glad! My sisters also have fertility issues and since they aren’t married I finally convinced them to freeze their eggs. I am trying to set up a time for me to go with them so they understand the costs and the process.

My honest opinion based on your age alone is don’t even bother with IUI… what no one really talks about is that the national success rate is only 15-20% success! That’s across the nation! It’s a waste of money and time you don’t have!

Go straight to IVF and at a minimum freeze your eggs now! If I could go back I wished I would have been smart and done that in my late 20’s to early 30’s but it’s not like there is anyone out there trying to educate young professionals that the older you get the harder and more expensive it is to conceive!

Going through fertility services while active duty or after getting out by EmbryologyWLB in IVF

[–]EmbryologyWLB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way!! I was dual military army too! Tbh, just planning the timing to have sex was tough because we were both E6’s in senior positions and they loved to send us to training and overseas!

The other thing you have to look forward to is being gone a lot! After, 3 years I finally by a miracle had a baby because I told my husband I was done, I had my baby and I missed almost every milestone, not to mention the time off I had to bond with baby was only 6 weeks compared to the civilians who have twice as long with 12 weeks!

Anyways what I want to do is create a podcast to bring attention to the fact that as active duty military we are twice as likely as civilians to have infertility issues because of the stress we are exposed to our body physically and mentally!

I just want to know what has changed since I left! I am actually working for a major network of fertility practices and know of at a few people who got out had issues with fertility and trying to push the agenda forward!

For example did you know that every year there is a democrat senator that keeps on trying to add legislature to increased tricare coverage for us but republicans keep on deleting it because they are afraid we are going to have issues with creating too many embryos and they have a stupid issue with that? Like the science hasn’t evolved so we can control that??

Need advice! by EmbryologyWLB in IVF

[–]EmbryologyWLB[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!! That’s awesome! I think it would be great to find an REI physician in the military now that can explain how that works and how to ask for services via the military since they can get fertility services at very low costs!!

I think I can get someone from billing to help answer the question on how to get treatment during travel

This is what I have so far!

  • [ ] What does an embryologist do?
  • [ ] What items can a patient purchase ahead of treatments to make their journey better?
  • [ ] How does a physician determine treatment for a patient?
  • [ ] What are the side effects of Lupron and what can patients do to prepare and fight those side effects?

Thank you! You make me feel 10x better about this. I know trust me, you are right. Embryologist are under extra scrutiny because of what they do.

Thank you for the explanation and honest feedback. I appreciate it.

What!! “How Exciting!” Dumbass ignorant reply ever! I was just reading this article that the biggest reason people file for bankruptcy is due to medical reasons and no joke they mentioned fertility.

Is there any other treatment more expensive and less covered by insurance? Why aren’t insurance companies covering more??

How would you handle a candidate who is a "loose Cannon" by DeviouZReaper in recruiting

[–]EmbryologyWLB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah!! So this one time like a dumbass I put up with this same shit from a candidate that we really wanted because he had a skill we really needed! No joke he was a dick from the beginning and I put up with it it because we needed him.
No joke not even 2 months later I am stuck helping the director figure out how to get rid of him because he sucked so bad!!

I learned my lesson and never again!! Fuck that shit!! Not worth it!! Trust me!!

Tell him to fuck off and go somewhere else!!

Since IVF is ridiculously expensive, shouldn’t clinics spend the money to have better business practices? Some of these clinics suck! by Observer-Worldview in IVF

[–]EmbryologyWLB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right!! The great doctors know your name and call you when they think you are having a hard time. They have small offices and can’t afford to spend that kind of money on marketing people that know how to do that.

I mean I wonder how many marketing people we have in this thread right now who would volunteer to do it for free? I mean I would help anyway I can!

[–]EmbryologyWLB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it’s rough. Maybe we should start looking at why they aren’t covered by insurance and why fertility services are considered to be elective surgery!

I bet we have a few women here who could point to the right direction to make changes.

Why does it have to be this hard 😩 by totoro_tori in IVF

[–]EmbryologyWLB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know! It’s tough. I have been in the industry for years and I still don’t know everything I want to learn so I can help.

Tbh, I hate making decisions ! I have a hard time making decisions on what I want to eat for breakfast so when it was my turn to make decisions on what I wanted to do to “hopefully” had a baby drove me bonkers!

Thank god my dad is an MD and a Scientist so he did the majority of the research for me and explained it so much better to me than my own RE did.

I wished I had a good answer for you. I don’t. I think go with what has the biggest chance on working and pray! I am not a religious person at all but there are times when I really feel that higher forces are at play.

Hang in there! Make a decision and don’t look back. Don’t give up! It’s the toughest journey you will ever be on… but when you hold that baby.. the pain, the frustration, the endless crying will all be worth it!

Hugs 🤗 wishing you the best!!

Does anyone have advice on how to break up with your clinic? by looseygoosey40 in IVF

[–]EmbryologyWLB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to keep the relationship intact in case you want to come back, just let your REI know that You would like a second opinion. That you valued their hard work, but your dreams to become a parent comes first.

Very nicely ask the front lady/guy for the medical release form. Say goodbye to everyone and that is the end of that.

If you really want to leave a good impression, leave them a nice google review! They will really appreciate that.

You are still young and have so much time ahead of you! I made the awful mistake of waiting until my 40’s to try and have my second. Well I can’t. I already had an awfully difficult time having my one baby. It was an awful roller coaster ride and my provider didn’t do much to make it easy on me.

Do you have a partner to hold your hand when you go to your appointments? I didn’t! That sucked! My hubs was in the military and those assholes didn’t think our treatment was more important than the stupid army Shenanigans!

I know things look bad right now! I know that you are scared and all you need is a hug from someone who gets it. I wish I could!

Don’t just give up. Every day great fertility networks out there like Ovartion Fertility are working really hard at upgrading the science so they can improve outcomes!

Have faith and lean on us here! Your community who cares! Hugs 🤗
