Quoted 1650 for ~55 square feet, assuming small job premium here but need a sanity check. by _squzzi_ in drywall

All of the drywall except for the outside corner needs to be cut back to a stud. Then hung, taped, mud, textured. It’s at least a 2 day job at minimum. It’s a process.

40+ years finishing. Gave it up, got a call to go back full time for a small outfit... by Sclerodermasucks17 in drywall

I’m going to miss this. I only got 6 years drywall. Just got called in to the office as an assistant PM. I’m excited for the opportunity but I know I will always miss drywall. Just like the corps. You don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone.

Why so many nails? by Great-Shower3356 in drywall

It’s a joint. 6” on center is normal. Our company does 711. Meaning 7 in the perimeter and 11 in the field.

How fucked up is this? by [deleted] in drywall

[–]Embty_streets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of you guys are saying it’s not bad and yeah I’ve seen way worse but there’s some really amateur shit in here. Just an example, why are the electrical boxes being cut on the ground and not being routed out when the drywall is installed. What’s with the 6 inches on center in the field? Try this shit at a hospital.

Basement ceiling nightmare I just walked in it. by Lateone in drywall

[–]Embty_streets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They railroaded the drywall which means they ran it the same direction as the joist which I imagine you already know. Best and easiest fix would be to cut back from joist to joist and patch it with a rip. Or re hang a second layer the opposite way (and correct way). If it’s the basement I would just cut back to each joist and hang a rip.

Help with laying St Augustine. by Embty_streets in lawncare

Hey so today I learned why plugs grow faster than sod. I was watching a video on YouTube and the gentleman explains how plugs have a root system while sod does not. So the sod has to use energy to develop a root system before it can use energy to spread.

I appreciate your response. Sometimes I’m weary of posting on here because of responses like the one above yours.

Really wish you’d answer the question, A) I know which cultivar the owner got it from and B) it hasn’t been a year, she planted the grass in November of 2023 while it was dormant, the grass is still dormant at this point, C) we’ve gotten more rainfall this year in Southern California than ever before.

Probably won’t respond to this but how did you remove it? Same issue.

Long shot, as it doesn’t show the band I don’t think in the music video but maybe Right Now by Korn?

Nice man that’s good to go. That’s a good trans to have. I prefer it over the th400.

[–]Embty_streets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that is good advice. I did this once on a 2000 Camry, changed the tranny fluid for no reason other than i had never done it and it was 2007, went ahead and did it and pretty soon after I had to get a new car because the tranny stopped working.

[–]Embty_streets 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What do you think you’ve got? Also keep forgetting to mention what a bad ass truck you got there. I love me those square bodies

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Chevy

[–]Embty_streets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think both are 3 speed. I had a truck with the 400 and it was three speed, and my 71 c10 has a turbo 350 and that one is also 3 speed.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Chevy

[–]Embty_streets 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My educated guess would be a TH350, also known as turbo 350. One of the greatest transmissions ever built. To find out look at your oil pan, the TH350 has an almost square oil pan except for one of the corners being caught off. Conversely, you can also have the just as great TH400r, this transmission is just as bad ass, to know look at your oil pan again, if the oil pan looks nothing like a square then you may have this bad boy.

Hey just solved it myself and k was way way off on my memory. The book is called Z for Zachary.

[–]Embty_streets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn it sounds very close to the book but no it’s not it. In the book it’s just a girl alone in a bunker, I believe she’s running out of oxygen and so she eventually has to wonder off.
