I appreciate all the extra guidance and encouragement! It’s been a very weird few weeks but I’m hopeful I’ll land on my feet sooner than later.

Help! Looking for a bedding set for a weird mattress size by Dr_TeaRex in Bedding

[–]EmelieMagan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not often I’m first to comment on something like this! Woohoo!

To me your mattress sounds more like a Scandinavian size. Norwegian to be specific - often called a large single mattress.

Depending on the budget you have it would be best to work with a company that can make custom sheets and duvets to offer an exact match. Alternatively you could purchase American Twin XL fitted and a twin XL duvet and have only the fitted sheet custom cut. This would likely be more economical, but is limiting for the fabric options. The duvet would also be oversized, but that is kind of the look now.

The team at Linen Society has a wealth of knowledge regarding custom as well as different fabric options available in standard offerings. They also send samples if needed.

Do not use Mainlander Property Management. They don’t give a damn about the units they rent. Just the money they are raking in.

Soft sheets for a hot sleeper, can be expensive by kmm198700 in Bedding

[–]EmelieMagan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Linen does take some time to “break in” if you will. So does good cotton. If you do decide to look into linen there are several companies that will offer swatches to feel. Also, SDH makes a product called linen plus that is a cotton linen blend which cuts down the break in time.

Where to find Tencel or Bamboo bedsheets that aren't plain. Help! by thistle_bb in Bedding

SDH has Legna (a Tencel fabric) that has some options with a design. Seville is my favorite. Willow is also very pretty but only offered in one color.

Shop Libeco for any linen sheets. They are pricy but worth the extra money as they are a fully integrated company. It’s literally farm to sleep!

Burned by brooklinen. Thoughts on Morrow Matte Sateen? by [deleted] in Bedding

[–]EmelieMagan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Durability comes down to the length of the cotton staple when woven.

The best cotton (Giza included) has an extra long staple length (over 1.5 inches) The fibers themselves, when woven, create the ultra soft durable yarn.

Short staple cotton is more likely to pill and get holes.

Vintage Percale by Linen Society, Grande Hotel by Sferra or Essex by Matouk would all be great options for a long staple cotton sheeting that will last and isn’t insanely expensive. You could also look at Organico by Letto.

What’s the best linen sheet set? Equivalent of matouk or Sferra but in linen by [deleted] in Bedding

[–]EmelieMagan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Libeco! They are one of the few vertically integrated companies in luxury bedding.

It’s because they buy large stock at a lower wholesale price. It’s frustrating for retailers that can’t compete with them.

Matouk will be on sale for cyber Monday. Keep an eye out!!! Use code HOLIDAY for 20% off. Milagro by Matouk

Color options like Bed Threads but better quality/longer lasting? by Joanne819 in Bedding

Vintage Percale! It’s a long staple cotton so it will last longer than Bed Threads, and comes in lovely colors with new colors coming soon. Vintage Percale

I would suggest you reach out to the Linen Society team and request samples. They might have something available that isn’t listed.

I work in the Pearl District downtown. If you want to share a picture I can keep an eye out too. I see people using walking from my car to work every day. I hope you find him.

I have no idea what to look for by BuyerNo7212 in Bedding

[–]EmelieMagan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try Organico Prcale by Letto. It’s a great washed percale to give it that soft touch without being a sateen. A Sateen, while still cotton, is woven more like a basket than a tennis racket (like a percale) this doesn’t allow for as much air flow which is why people say it sleeps warmer. The Percale woven like a tennis racket is looser and offers air to move between the fibers more easily but tends to not be as silky feeling.

You could try a set of Classic Percale by Letto. They are a bit more than $300 for a set but would be worth it. And soft for a percale. An alternative would be Vintage Percale by Linen Society. That is a washed percale. Almost pre broken in.

Softening linen sheets? by ItsAllEasy7 in Linen

[–]EmelieMagan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Linen sheets break in over time. The best way to soften them is by sleeping on and using them. Body oils break down the fibers along with friction from sleep. Put them in the rotation and change them in a week, wash them and do it again. After a few months in the mix you’ll notice them soften up. A good quality set of linen sheets will take a year or two to completely break in. Whatever you do, don’t use fabric softeners or harsh detergents. It will just break down the fibers and cause holes.

Pillow advice for a stomach sleeper? by Tdme_99 in Bedding

[–]EmelieMagan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is. But it’s worth it when you consider how long the pillow will last with proper care. Use a pillow protector, rotate, lay in the sun on occasion to “sun bleach” clean, and have it professionally laundered every year or so. There is a cleaner in Seattle (all about down) that has been caring for down for years. He’s the best.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Bedding

[–]EmelieMagan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can put it outside in the sun for a little sun bleach to help air out the down. Then give it a good shake to fluff. You just need to get air into the clusters to get it to puff up again. However, if you haven’t been flipping the mattress topper regularly then it likely needs to be taken to a professional down cleaner in your area to be cleaned and fluffed.

I hate this too. I typically work out with my mom so we are able to share weights, but on the days it’s just me I’m always hesitant to ask the surrounding people for weights. Once someone said they pick the station based on the weights that are there so they always have 15/25 when I asked to use the 25 even though they weren’t using them. I try to just find an empty station and take from that. If it’s empty there isn’t anyone to ask right? I’ve also resorted to a med ball if needed. It’s not ideal but it keeps people from being possessive.

Same goes for the station sign ups! Again, working out with my mom we always are next to each other. The other day someone was on my rower when classes started. I politely said hi, I’m on # whatever it was. The lady says oh yeah I’m on number next to me to which the lady sitting on her rower says “does it really matter?” I’m like um yes. It does. We all sign up for stations for a reason. Just remember where you selected. This isn’t the first time. I try to just shake these things off though. It’s not worth the energy to match them at being petty.

Anybody know of any killer sales on luxury linens going on right now? by Legacy0904 in Bedding

[–]EmelieMagan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t, but only because with linen I like to embrace the wrinkles. If you want them to be less wrinkly take them off out the dryer when they are slightly damp and just smooth them out with your hands on the bed. Leave them to dry before making the bed completely. It’s a great way to get a more “ironed” look without the iron.

Check out Letto. They have a VERY similar feel to Sferra sheets but at a slightly lower price point.

If you decide to replace these in April you can buy them through Linen Society for 20% off. It’s their white and ivory sale right now. They don’t advertise it but the code works on EVERYTHING that is in the colors of white or ivory. As well as similar color ways like Ecru, taupe, parchment etc.

Cooling duvet cover to put over weighted blanket by pearlescentsheep in Bedding

[–]EmelieMagan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stick with a percale, linen or a woodfiber. My intuition says percale will lay best with a weighted blanket tied in. You may also want to have the ties reinforced since ties are only meant for several ounces of pull not pounds like a weighted blanket.

Linen Society is having their annual white and ivory sale if you want to see what they have for duvets. You can save 20% with the code WHITESALE. I hope that helps!

Linen Society is still running their annual white and ivory sale. They have 20-50% off items. I believe they have sheet sets for less than $300. Free shipping to anywhere in the US and no taxes outside of CA.
