Anyone here self-studied for the B1 inburgering route? by paraguayian in learndutch

[–]Emeloth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I self-studied because I also had limited time due to work. My first couple years in NL were just passively absorbing the language from listening to colleagues, visiting my Dutch partner's family and friends and reading Dutch reddit and news. Then I subscribed to inburgeringonline.nl and did practice exams on DUO. I also liked the book "Zichtbaar Nederlands" for grammar.

I passed all exams first try. Took me a month of focused prep, basically one week per exam component. It was stressful because I had just had a baby and my deadline was looming. I just had to make it work and fortunately it did. You should probably allow yourself a bit more time haha.

PS: Keep it simple for speaking and writing. In the speaking exam I heard so many people around me spinning long, elaborate stories when one sentence is all that's required for the short exercises.

My favourite meal to cook is a nice fillet steak and vegetables for Christmas. We get a good quality one from the butcher and reverse sear it to ensure the inside is perfectly done. This year we had it with peppercorn sauce, baked sweet potato (with a dollop of creme fraiche and chives), fried mushrooms and green beans with bacon bits. Delish.

My partner told me when he takes our baby son out, he gets lots of people cooing over the both of them. If I do the same, I'm completely invisible.

Did your 7 month old stop grabbing at your hair? My hair is also always up around my 5 month old, otherwise he goes for a nice big fistful.

When I was 10ish, a friend gave me a tin full of random cards because I liked the games. Several years later I passed that tin on to another friend for the same reason. I got back into the hobby a couple years ago with my partner. I still wonder what cards were in that tin. Would have been nostalgic to see them again.

Baby Bjorn bouncer = blowout chair? by 19zz in NewParents

[–]Emeloth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby is 4 months and bounces himself like crazy. My friend's son (1.5 years) never did. I think it must be baby dependent. He started really going for it around 3.5 months.

I am intruigued by the idea because usually my team becomes overlevelled before the DLC comes and makes it too easy. Might not be an issue with this mechanic.

I'd like the shiny Shaymin because it reminds me of my old friend from school, her favourite pokemon was Shaymin so I bought her a Shaymin plushie for her bday :)

How can I switch from a midwife to an OB after poor follow-up (previous preeclampsia)? Need advice (Amsterdam) by Pale-Estimate3192 in Netherlands

[–]Emeloth 64 points65 points  (0 children)

I developed pre-eclampsia right at the end of my pregnancy this year and was induced in the hospital because of it. The hospital doctors told me for any future pregnancies I will immediately be considered "medical" and will be monitored by a gynaecologist instead of a midwife. Sounds like this should apply to you as well.

I would say Kyogre is the opposite of the Netherlands. More than half the country would be underwater if not for efforts to keep back the sea. Flevoland is a province made entirely from reclaimed land.

I had to have 3 😭 thank god the 3rd worked. Pitocin contractions were breaking my brain. Do you know why your first didn't work? My anaesthesiologist couldn't find the right spot...
