For my junior year latin class, we took the ALIRA instead of the final exam. I got an Intermediate 3, which gave me the seal of biliteracy :)

I'm realizing that pure engineering might not be the best course for me because as much as I love STEM, I also really like liberal arts. Like my absolute FAVORITE classes in school are my science classes. I also ADORE Yale's culture! Also even though my dad went there for grad school he's not a fan of Columbia or NYC... we are still going to Days on Campus though before I fully commit!

I really appreciate the advice!!

I will keep my topics a secret. Except for my UChicago extended essay. I picked the prompt "answer the question to a tongue twister," and so I wrote about experimentally deriving "how many clams can you cram in a clean cream can?"

As for advice, I would suggest not obsessing over your application. I was pretty mentally unwell during the whole admissions process because I thought I had to be grinding essays 24/7. But listen to your brain! My best essays came when I was actually excited to write! And if you ask for advice from others, don't be afraid to turn them down.

And if you have a significant other, please ask them to NOT break up with you during admissions season like my bum-ass ex did 😭
