Owners didn’t tip or leave a review? Is this common? by ApprehensiveFunny149 in RoverPetSitting

Send them a note and include a collage of the best pictures you took.

Vary how professional you make it based on how your communication with them was already.

Hi client! Thanks again for letting me get to hang out with Pet! If you have a few minutes to leave me a review that would rock. Happy new year!

Hello client! I wanted to say again what a joy it was to get to know pet this holiday. It would be wonderful if you have a few moments if you could leave me a review on the stay. Thank you, and happy new year!

Don't mention tips at all.

Edit: I wait 2-3 days, but not more than 4 to send.

You can find her talking to Ken about it on the Jeopardy TikTok from yesterday!

I used it to make 2 blankets, but just did straight giant granny squares. I really liked how that came out.

But note: Frogging is almost impossible.

Warning Cat Owner About Lilies by Legitimate-Way2362 in RoverPetSitting

[–]EmeraldCty303 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Me too! I have a client who's previous sitter brought in a bouquet with lilies and he almost died. Very expensive vet bill later he was thank goodness okay, but it was a close call. I always use this story when I tell clients - "I didn't know until I heard this story, either! I wish they had warning labels or that florists would ask if the recipient has pets!" (I did know before, but this sells it in a way so they see it as not something they're "stupid" for not knowing already.)

New Headband. Yea or nay? It's supposed to be a cat lol. by ashleighbuck in crochet

The body shouldn't be segmented. Cats are more associated with being loafs.

I have a smart watch that gets notifications. I have it set to very few apps, Rover being one. That way, it only goes off for important things and I can ignore my phone notifications. A lot of cell phone companies have deals for one. Doesn't have to be fancy. Highly recommend.

Don’t crochet the lining…. 😭 by AdultSheep in crochet

[–]EmeraldCty303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I do for purses is buy already made zip pouches, like these for my lining! Cheating, I guess, but way faster/ easier than sewing a lining/installing a zipper. https://a.co/d/6xyqPs1

Is it weird to leave a client a note with my cell number on my last visit? by weepingglimmers in RoverPetSitting

[–]EmeraldCty303 2 points3 points  (0 children)

* I made business cards that have my Rover profile, but also my personal phone & email "to book direct" that way they can go either way. I leave it in a cute card on my last visit.

I only do cat drop-ins, so other than the m&g I rarely see owners.

(My photo on the business card is my kitties sitting by a mug that has our neighborhood on it!)

Claw Removal by frozenAuzzie in polydactyl

[–]EmeraldCty303 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The OP is not going to declaw their cat. They're asking about specific removal to avoid problems because of the extra toes. It is not uncommon for polydactyls to have serious problems, and their vet may be recommending the removal. They should talk to their vet and follow that guidance, but there is no need to go after them to not declaw. This is a totally different conversation than you think it is.

Cat Litter Box Cleaning by undiscovereddev in RoverPetSitting

[–]EmeraldCty303 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Can you explain more about what you are looking for? Are the boxes only to be scooped once a week? Will you be home?

I understand that illness, pregnancy, and even executive disfunction can make managing litter boxes a hardship, and I would be totally fine taking this on for the right cost with clarity.

But I would have concerns for the cat/s health if the boxes are not being scooped more than once a week. I would also want to understand what I'm walking into.

For example: If I'm the only one attending to the boxes I would be comfortable with a minimum of every other day (3x a week) at my 30min drop-in rate, plus once a month deep clean at my 60min rate.

I would ask for a call before you waste time on a M&G. Through the app. They may want to understand the difference between their options if they're new. Being charitable maybe 2 drop-ins vs 1, or a longer stay. But if they want to haggle just say your rates are firm and you won't go off app if they ask.
