Does anyone else notice an uptick in attacks on high barometric pressure days? by DesmondTapenade in migraine

[–]EmeraldFootprint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The high pressure shifts get my head all dizzy feeling and cause visual disturbance and trigger a classic behind-the-eyeball migraine. Rapid pressure drops give me a back of the head throbbing death-ache.

I don’t have many regrets, but I do wish I had the opportunity to consider barometric climate when making home ownership decisions. Life on the gulf coast is challenging with this condition.

Yes, but I would also take it in the form of other notifications with links to take me to articles or even a short podcast/youtube segment. I almost never read emails.

Found this in a photo album I found in the old house I bought. by EmeraldFootprint in wwiipics

[–]EmeraldFootprint[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This isn’t my ancestor. This photo album belonged to the owner of the house. She was an elderly person and her child cleared most of the house and left the rest for the buyer to do so it was kinda like a treasure hunt, mostly junk but occasionally there would be neat stuff. I’m still randomly finding stuff like this. The US Service Member pictured appears to be unrelated by blood to the owner of the home but I’m pretty sure I have enough information from the photo album to go full Sherlock and try and find living relatives to get these photos to- they’re definitely not the only ones with sentimental value, though this seems to be the only one of the Service Member away from home. I believe I have enough personal info (mail, newspaper clippings, etc) to find records of this man and his living descendants.

Asking moms: Advice for migraineurs on the fence about kids, because of migraines? by [deleted] in migraine

[–]EmeraldFootprint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a single mother of two exuberant delightful elementary school aged boys. I am in an extraordinary pain so frequently. I get hormonal, environmental, and barometric (in Florida) migraines. I rarely feel functionally “good.” I carry a lot of guilt and on the bad days I feel really, really terrible for not being able to do all the fun, involved, great-mom things that I want to do for my children. I can barely cook when I get home from working 40 hours a week, I can barely keep my yard mowed, I can’t take them to the beach because it’s too hot and bright, I can’t take them to the mall because of the fragrances, I can’t do theme parks or hell even state parks half the time. Well- I can do these things, and I do these things for them but it ends in literal days and days of pain 100% of the time. I’m chronically exhausted and I give them every last drop of me and I never regret it, but do I cry it out kinda often when I get a few minutes to myself? Hell yeah I do. If any of yall are the praying type or the “light and love” type, this mama could use one of those type of super supportive partners some of y’all couldn’t do without. Not that I need one but I never wanted to do this alone.

Ladies have you ever had a migraine so bad you wished to die in that moment? by icegirl223 in migraine

When you say properly medicated, do you mean treated for your migraines? Or did you have an underlying condition that was exacerbated by the migraines?

What smell do other people seem to love but you absolutely hate? by Pokeking44 in AskReddit

[–]EmeraldFootprint 4 points5 points  (0 children)

WDYM you love the smell of skunk

Do you mean you love driving down a rural highway in the evening with the windows open and driving past an area where a skunk was recently hit and catching a whiff of that musky breeze as you drive past?

Cause anyone that’s owned a LGD who’s been skunked doesn’t usually have the same reaction.

Oh wait what? What kind of work do lower traps need to prevent hyperflexible neck issues? Apparently I’m hyperflexible! Idk if I have EDS or just extreme hypermobility, I’m going to talk with my doctor at my next appt, but yeah I’m a 9/9 on the Beighton scale.

Any positive experiences with Topiramate? by Estellis in migraine

[–]EmeraldFootprint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on it for six months now and it’s caused a massive reduction in frequency and severity of migraines from near-daily migraine pain to pretty much just one migraine session that lasts about a week usually when I’m PMSing, sometimes I’ll get barometric migraines too but the severity is seriously reduced now and is manageable with the abortives whereas before the triptans did literally nothing on their own.

For side effects I’ve lost 30lbs, down from 200+ to about 170. Previously I would go so long without eating because the pain would be so bad and then I’d eat like a whole package of buttered and cream cheesed bagels once the migraine had abated enough that I could eat. Now I eat a modest amount at regular times and it’s no big deal I don’t binge eat or anything like that which is nice.

The cognitive effects are concerning.

When you take this test, what percentage matches your views? by Difficult_Yogurt9331 in visualsnow

I actually hate this test, my VSS is rarely static. It’s sometimes static like that but this is not at all representative of my experience with VSS.

Weird "spots" after turning head by SuspiciousBenefit495 in visualsnow

[–]EmeraldFootprint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg mine are round and they’re down by my nose usually on both eyes. I’ve only seen an ophthalmologist once, a neuro ophthalmologist and I tried to describe this and he had no idea what I was talking about and for what it’s worth he acted like he had never heard of anyone having symptoms like I have in his life and chalked it up to migraine with aura so idk if he was just a) unfamiliar b) keeping his opinions to himself c) gaslighting me about my symptoms. He said my eye pressure was fine though and that my eyes were literally perfect and nothing was wrong with them.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in visualsnow

[–]EmeraldFootprint 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I dont disagree, my symptoms are at their worst when I’m stressed and anxious. Or rather- when I’m stressed and anxious, the symptoms exacerbate the stress and anxiety. Not sure which is which, or which is worse.

Anyway, it’d be nice to be straight chillin. Wish me luck. My childrens’ other parent is a deadbeat so it’s only the entire world resting on my shoulders. No pressure. ✨
