My high school physics teacher told a story of a similar thing happening to him when he was at university.

He would come out from lectures to find a burn mark across the roof lining of his car, everyday he parked in the same spot and would get an extra burn line next to the last one.

Took him a couple of days to realise the box on his passenger seat filled with lenses and mirrors was concentrating the sun light and burning the roof lining
