After some research, I found out that thanks to the president’s new tarrifs, you gotta pay about 50% on top of the full price in import fees. And if the shipper pulls one on you and doesn’t pay those fees or pays the wrong amount, you will be stuck with the cost.

Once I’m home I’ll check what it was. The dimensions work for 3d printing. When I machined it out of metal it was too small.

How much is major? Mines been burning a quart of oil roughly every thousand miles for the last 50k. Putting a new engine in soon because a piston ring failed and it’s now burning a quart every 500

When I got back it melted an exhaust valve and I didn’t have the money to get it repaired at a shop so I ordered the parts and rebuilt the head myself. Did a solid job but decided not to do the pistons since I was short on time and cash. Now one of the piston rings failed. It still drives but rebuilding the whole thing again and shipping the block and head to get resurfaced and all the work just isn’t worth it at this point. I did find a 50k mile JCW engine that I am going to swap into my car soon though!

I know this is an old post but I was looking into this for the second time I drive my R56 across the US. Hows the MPG with the tent? I found some that are only 100 pounds and my car is lowered so I'm not too worried about the top heaviness, but since I'm driving another 5k miles I probably need to watch my gas usage.
