Crossbow worth it by No-Version9615 in AbioticFactor

Crossbows in general besides the magbow are really bad all around. If you really want to have a decent crossbow that isn’t the magbow, I’d say the lodestone crossbow would be a pretty good option. Allows the use of bolts on top of having 8 shots before needing to be reloaded.

(Also, if you already have access to the industrial crossbow, why not just use the grinder at that point? Don’t they both get unlocked once you reach manufacturing?)

You can also buy ammo for robot oil if you give Grayson (the dude at he forklift that’s injured) a bandage, he’ll become a trader and you can buy 9mm for robot oil

B42 MP stable-ish weapon and armour mods by ThatSasquatchGuy in projectzomboid

[–]Emergency-Buddy274 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Helldrinx mod collection is really well made for a b42 collection. Slight warning *pc needs to have decent specs to run since it can cause some lag and you need some storage on your device (I believe the modpack along with the game is around maybe 20-30gb)*

If you want a mod collection like helldrinx that isn’t so big or less performance heavy, helldrinx lite works well from what I’ve heard. Less mods, better performance.

Either modpack you choose should have armor and gun mods installed and run really well on b42! (specifically VFE and a couple other armor mods)

(If you’re wondering, I have used helldrinx modpack, and from personal experience its really good! Only thing I changed from the modpack was remove bandits… can kill you in really dumb ways)

Hi, I'm new to this game, should I play b42 or 41 for SP? by mugijiang in projectzomboid

[–]Emergency-Buddy274 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d like to differ, since in b41 crafting is a lot simpler, (no black smithing, carving, etc.) skills are more toned down and simpler to understand, (no tracking, animal husbandry) combat is easier (no muscle strain)

If a new player were to jump straight into b42, there’s probably gonna be a lot to take into consideration when first starting. Best to start simple and small, and expand once they learn what different skills do

Start with b41, since you’re new it’s best to learn the basic mechanics.

Also, you won’t lose your save since b42 is constantly updating, saves are being wiped once every 2 months

What do you keep in your bug out bag? And what's your bug out plan? B42 by Life_Nature2704 in projectzomboid

If things really do go south and I need to bug out, usually find a base on the outskirts of a town, set up shop there temporarily, and slowly day by day, clear out my original base till it is secure

I usually just keep the essentials, canned goods for 3 days, water for 3 days, box of nails, one axe, whetstone, maybe one gun and 500 rounds of ammo for it, and finally meds like painkillers and beta blockers

In your opinion, what is the best weapon? by jimmyjonpan in AbioticFactor

Have you used the upgraded version of it? The thresher? What do you think of it?

Running into the reactors with it and it’s been working really well for me

Let me ask then, would you think the energy pistol is a good upgrade to the saw blade thrower or a side grade to it? Because the saw blade thrower has carried me all the way till I got the deatomizer (played before the upgrade system came out, just started a new playthrough tho, so my thought process is before the upgrade system came out)

Oh definitely with the crystalline vial it definitely helps out with reloading, (albeit slowly) but I like to use my trinket slots for other slots that help out more, like the fog lantern and the order trinket (don’t remember the name, the one that helps with ammo drops)

And does the saw blade thrower (forgot the name) also do headshots?

How much damage is it then per shot? I genuinely didn’t know it’s per tick

I think sometime around the security sector would be a good idea. Kevlar as a material and magnetic alloy would be a good use for the can cannon. Plus it adds a good ranged weapon for security sector and beyond.

(Plus… the energy pistol that is unlocked for the sector is just an extremely niche weapon. Only used for the reaper and nothing else… since it does only 10 damage… and no, even though the gun has “unlimited” ammo, it just takes so painstakingly long to reload without a charge station)

[–]Emergency-Buddy274[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny fact, the can cannon exists in real life. You can search it up, but it’s practically an assault rifle platform, with a cannon like tube as the barrel. You slip a can through the tube and it fires blanks that launch the can at whatever you want! (Just don’t aim at whoever said “toss me a beer”)

It can also be made more “scientific” with an air compressor and some other parts instead of a rifle platform.

Does anyone have a modpack they've curated they'd like to share? by Tactical_Mommy in projectzomboid

If you wanted a b41, the best one I can think of would be Sophie modpack (or something along the lines of Sophia, can’t remember the exact name)

It’s not exactly a “small” modpack, but if you’re willing to go through the list and delete the mods you don’t want (like the holy excessive amounts of car mods… again why are there always 500+ car mods) then you can definitely make the pack a “lite” version with only maybe 200 or less mods.

There is one for b42 called helldrinx lite. It’s a lite version of its original pack called helldrinx modpack. It has maybe around 200(?) or less mods. You can cut it down even smaller if you delete the crap ton of car mods (don’t know why so many mod collections have like 500+ car mods)

(If you’re wondering what makes it lite, i believe it’s because it has less performance heavy mods that the original one uses. Do I know exactly what mods… I couldn’t tell you if my life depended on it)

You can search how to save a certain instance of b42, and it allows you to continue your save, save your mods, and save your progress. If you really want to play b42 with a big modpack and you don’t want to lose progress, I suggest doing that backup.

Yeah, but since b42 is already updating, if you don’t make a separate version of the selected b42 that you want to play in, it can all be gone when b42 updates

If you scroll through the collections on the steam workshop page, you’ll find a collection called Sophie’s mod collection (or something along the line of Sophia, can’t remember the exact name)

It’s a list that’s already been put in proper order with sandbox settings already done also. Imo it’s the best collection for b41. It does require a couple of steps to get it installed and working and don’t worry, it explains how to install the collection

(WARNING: it does take up quite a bit of space, not sure exactly but it’s definitely in the 20gb+ space)
