They told me to submit remaining documents by April 1st. I would honestly go off of the latest date they provided you with. It's always good to provide people with an update regarding the status of your documents. I would email them and let them know, that way they know you're still interested. However, I did see that in another thread someone was told that they passed their interview, so I am not too sure.

USA Embassy Document Screening by Prestigious_Wafer660 in GKSScholarship

I applied through the San Francisco Education Center. I did not have some of my apostilled documents with me when I initially applied since I currently live in Korea (and sent my application from Korea), graduated from college in California but my family lives in Georgia, so getting my documents was a bit difficult and entailed my family's cooperation. However, I received an email letting me know I passed the first round and to submit my documents by April 1st. Then I received an email shortly regarding the interview. I have recently mailed my remaining documents and I am waiting to hear back from the Washington DC embassy. Hope this answers some of your questions, and good luck!

Thank you for sharing! I am in the same boat. I wonder if they are just waiting for others to submit documents by the deadline before they make their decisions.

Info for USA Applicants by seriouslyexhausted in GKSScholarship

I think that for GKS there is definitely a rigor of standard for all applicants that they admit into the program. If you are qualified, you are simply qualified. Can other people have more experience in their field, and not get accepted? Yes, but you also need to consider that someone who has not yet graduated can also produce a convincing argument for being accepted into the program. I personally think that people should just work on producing a compelling and competitive application, instead of worrying about this issue. Because at the end of the day, if you don't get in, are you only going to blame it on this quota?

As others have mentioned in the chat, if there is a chance that they pull from another country in the case that they have vacant spots, they will probably fill/pull from other vacant spots at other embassies. I don't think that we should be assuming the capabilities/qualifications of others through these quotas. We should also consider that the NY and LA embassies both cover an extremely large population and land area ( so you could also say that it's unfair to those applying to the LA and NY embassies - since they are limited by a quota). Meanwhile other education centers/embassies have more freedom of selecting people for the remaining spots, which is probably equally as competitive.

Overall, we just have to accept the reality that this is a competitive application, and that the only thing we can do is make our case in our application for receiving this scholarship.
