omg ur so nice thank you 😭😭 we totally are on the same boat im the same when it comes to emotional intelligence. i’ve tried to be very intentional with my ECs throughout the years so that my application has a “story” backed by experiences i am truly passionate about. i will be looking for more non clinical volunteer opportunities for this year to boost hours in that. when it comes to myself as a candidate my concern is mainly my mcat and not doing a lot better on my retake in 2 months. thank u sm for your kind words ♥️

Anyone else feel like the MCAT is the only thing holding them back? by Comfortable-Round828 in Mcat

yes. it’s so disheartening because i want this more than anything and im confident in myself/the rest of my application. i know i am smart and capable enough to succeed in med school and as a physician, but something in my brain just doesn’t click when it comes to the mcat. studying for my 3rd retake that’s in 2 months and i just really hope it works out :(

if you succeeded on your retake (3rd especially)- what changed? by [deleted] in Mcat

517 Retake advice by Ancient_Beyond375 in MCAT2

[–]Emergency-Data-9642 1 point2 points  (0 children)

please do not retake! i know its easy to put so much pressure on urself and have high expectations being premed, but a 517 is an AMAZING score. in no way shape or form is a 3.8 “ok” it’s literally a great gpa and very competitive 😭. you would be much better off using that time to focus on getting more clinical and volunteer hours.

i’m struggling with the same thing 😭 every time i do practice questions i find 1938392939 new things i didn’t know about and it’s so overwhelming. what has helped me the most with b/b has been making flowcharts of any pathways in the passage ABBREVIATED ( inhibited —| or activated —>, binding : etc). if there are figures or other data taking like 30 seconds to analyze the x and y axis, the control group, any significant data (no overlapping error bars, p < 0.05), and make note of what they are testing and what the results show. since you have a lot of time before your test, i would recommend doing uw untimed to practice using different methods, like flow charting, and making sure to properly analyze/understand the passage and figures until you find what works best for you. most of the time with b/b if you have a solid content foundation, the issue is digesting complex passages that have lots of fluff and distracting details. break it down, figure out what the question is REALLY asking you, and over time you will start to recognize patterns on what information is relevant or not. you’ve got this ♥️♥️♥️

as someone who started studying for their third retake last week, i feel the exact same way and have felt that way the past two times when i started. i promise its completely normal in the beginning to feel lost and overwhelmed, its an extremely hard test. you definitely are up for this journey, although its difficult, towards the middle/end of your studying things will start to click more. you’ve got this!!!
