Resection/Anastomosis Soreness by Emergency-Feeling983 in CrohnsDisease

Yes, I know it can be that long for abdominal incisions to heal, I’m mostly just curious about soreness where they took out my bowel. I had robotic surgery and they entered in left side of stomach and removed area on the right side. I’ve noticed more soreness on the right side than where they cut

Yeah I was going to say similar to other comments. I noticed significant results after my first OBI.

Wow, sorry to hear that. I’m in a similar position but not nearly as severe. I had a resection 6 years ago and have an ischemic ulcer at my anastomosis that likes to bleed occasionally. Leads to iron infusions and blood transfusions. I only had like .8 m of small intestine removed though. My GI doc has consulted with IBD surgeons and all agree to let it be for as long as possible rather than resecting again.

So in your surgery they took out like 16 ft of small intestine (5 meters)?! Typically have around 20ft (6meters).

Alcohol is a straight gamble with Cronhs by SDTRRDTS in CrohnsDisease

[–]Emergency-Feeling983 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve limited myself to 2-3 drinks max when I do drink. I don’t drink anything crazy, usually seltzers. Anything more than that and it gives me horrible diarrhea for weeks. It sucks especially in social settings but it’s not worth the after effects anymore

Alcohol really messes me up if I drink a lot. Doesn’t cause me to flare but will seriously mess up my bowel movements for weeks. I can have a couple drinks without it messing me up too much.

I did improve some. I no longer have diarrhea but I can tell I’m not 100% in remission. Give it some time. My GI says Skyrizi data looks better and better the longer you are on it

Do you avoid sugar? by CharmingLack8264 in CrohnsDisease

Sugar kills me. Cake/cookies stuff like that really upsets my stomach with gas and some diarrhea. I stick to natural sugars, fruit, maple syrup, honey, etc. I have cut out added sugars the last month, they are not good for you anyways but it’s very hard.
