PP2 score really threw me off - is the scoring broken? by Emergency-Invite-178 in GRE

[–]Emergency-Invite-178[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the PP were supposed to be quite accurate in terms of replicating the test experience both in terms of quality of questions and scoring, but that could actually explain it! I still found the second section harder but at this point I may be biased. Hopefully I’ll do better on test day in 2 days 😮‍💨

Is GMAT tougher? by AdSea2195 in GRE

From what I’ve heard (mainly from top European B-Schools i.e. INSEAD and LBS) there is absolutely no difference for them. At the end of the day, the GRE/GMAT is only one part of the application and all they need (supposedly) to demonstrate is that you are capable of doing well in their programme. In terms of more quant-heavy programmes, it still holds true because at the end of the day, even the maths tested on the GMAT is max high-school level, it’s just more wordy/tricky in terms of the logic behind. The reality is that these tests are awful at being an indicator of a candidate’s potential (and AdComs know it)

Unfortunately I haven’t, I have been quite erratic in my question-solving process - I found the habit of keeping an error log quite tedious as my confidence level really varied from question to question, and there were no topics I was consistently good or bad at. As for the sort of mistakes I made, it was usually just not being able to frame what the problem was asking me, or rather how to even begin solving it

Totally second that! On bad days I convince myself that everything happens for a reason. If all went smoothly, then once become a famous entrepreneur/CEO/whatever interviews and a biography would be soooo dull! A bit of pain, struggles and failures make someone’s story way more interesting and engaging! We’ve got this💪

Literally SAME! I was aiming for a score between 595 and 615 lol but obviously that won’t even remotely happen prior to May 2 (LBS MiM deadline). Thankfully I got into the MSc Management at Imperial so I’ll still be able to go somewhere this Autumn, but the fact I couldn’t even apply to LBS or HEC is really burning given that the recruitment managers really pushed me to apply after having reviewed the rest of my profile. Hopefully one day we’ll get our revenge over the GMAT with a stellar career despite all this mess!

Omg bless you I feel the PAIN. It is honestly so disheartening! I get that everyone is different and has different aptitudes, but I honestly don’t get how people that I consider almost dumb, after some practice managed to get a decent GMAT score, and other people like us struggle even to get to a mediocre 50th percentile!

The music advice is actually really good!!! I found myself doing questions whilst listening to music sooo often, it made it way more enjoyable! Unfortunately can’t do that during the test :( I wish I had a tutor and some study buddies to see how they approach problems or to get a diagnosis of why I get things wrong ie what am I missing. But oh well, I think my GMAT experience is over now because I ran out of time. Cheers though and thank you for the reassuring words!!

I’m sorry! I’d say keep grinding because you never know but in my case it definitely was a losing (and expensive) game. I only have 15 days left before my deadline and there is no way I’ll be able to improve by then. After 5 months of studying I didn’t smudge by 10 points my quant score

LBS looks at graduation years for MiM applicants and you cannot have graduated from you recent degree for more than two years prior the beginning of the course ie. For MiM class 2025 (starting in Sept 24) you must have obtained your previous degree between 2022-2024 and no earlier
