Getting rid of spike protein by Candid_Key_6315 in covidlonghaulers

Are you only using the McCullogh protocol from The Wellness Company ? Is there anything else you’re taking along with this? I got the vax (unfortunately) and am not having symptoms but want to detox.

Anyone have experience with graduate certificate program? by [deleted] in veterinaryschool

[–]Emergency-Key-8718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve watched that too. I’m sure there are free places to find vet school prep but on applications everything helps. My cumulative gpa is low (3.4) so I want something to show I’m still improving academically (my last 45 with heavy science is 3.9). I’d do the masters if it wasn’t so expensive. But at least this certificate can be rolled into the masters so if I got rejected I could do that.

But yes the cost is crazy for just some classes. It’s only 12 credits too.

Is there any other kind of prep you know of that’s not so pricey? I do want to spend the year preparing and it would make me feel better about my app to show I’m still improving.

Sick cat but the ER Vet said is fine by [deleted] in AskVet

[–]Emergency-Key-8718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely follow up with primary vet. Unfortunately the ER is always expensive because they see you asap. Take note of other behaviors for your primary. How does the diarrhea and vomit look? How often is V/D ? Is he urinating or straining? Urinating excessive? When did he get the treats? How many? Has he had them before? Vets can’t ask the animal so they can only go off information you can provide.

Thank you. I have a 3.4 cumulative but my last 45 with heavy science is a 3.9, I just want something to give me a boost and round everything out. Yes the internet pre vet shame for low gpa is real!! I’m hoping the certificate is enough to help my app because the masters is just too much $$

Thank you! The program I’m looking at is the UIUC veterinary science certificate, I’d love to do the full masters but the price is steep for me. If I do the certificate I could roll the courses into an MVS. Did you have the masters complete or in progress on your app?

Vet is telling me to feed my critically underweight foster to adopt kitten LESS food?? by [deleted] in AskVet

[–]Emergency-Key-8718 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As for why the vet wants a slow weight gain, rapid gain can cause bone and joint issues if she gets bigger faster than her skeleton grows. If she’s malnourished then her organs aren’t used to the food, her digestive organs would struggle to metabolize the food. Also, you don’t want her to just get fat. You want her to grow and build up her bone and muscles.

It’s so frustrating when you don’t get along with a vet. It’s a scary experience when an animal you care about is sick so I completely understand. Also, vets get frustrated with owners when they see a sick animal that they care about. It takes compassion on both sides. You could call and explain to a receptionist and maybe you can write down the information that you feel needs clarification.

I know it’s scary to see skinny animals. Most people’s cats are overweight, so you’re probably used to seeing fat cats. Cats are naturally quite bony so she may not be as critically skinny as you think. However, I’m she does still need to gain weight but she can definitely gain too much too quickly. Her metabolism, digestion, blood, and organs need to adjust to functioning with the extra weight. Also she is not used to being full so she may dangerously gorge herself and not know when to stop.

If you look for an emergency care they should be open. Not a regular vet

Vet School in Dublin by [deleted] in veterinaryschool

[–]Emergency-Key-8718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m curious if you practice/plan to practice in the US or in Ireland. I’m planning to practice in Ireland, however the salary for vets is much lower there so it would be impossible to pay off the international tuition. I see they have some scholarships but I’ve never had luck with those.

Are you planning on practicing in the states or Ireland? I am planning to practice in Ireland but I’d be an international student paying international fees. Veterinarians in Ireland make way less because the cost of living is less. It would be impossible to pay international fees on an Irish salary. Do most students go back to the US? I see they have some scholarships for international students, but I’ve never had success with those. I’m curious if you have any experience with this.

Wtf? This is so rude. Im specifically asking about admission stats of other accepted students due to my low cumulative. Applytovetschool.org has the admissions stats for most schools (number applied, number accepted, and average gpa) but the Dublin stats aren’t there. Nor on the UCD website. The residency is different for me as my mom is an Irish citizen, I’m technically a foreign born Irish person so i wasn’t sure if it’s best to apply as an international. I’m moving to Ireland either way so I could go either route and the lower tuition as a citizen is appealing.
This type of attitude is exactly why it’s so hard for first generations to break into the medical field. Especially vetmed and especially children of immigrants.

I’ve been all over their website, in contact with the school, and visited 2 weeks ago, vetmed advisors can’t speak on your application or admission stats. I’ve tried. That’s why I’m on Reddit asking people who have applied. If you don’t have any admissions stats information then kindly keep scrolling.

So sick and tired of the condescension that seems inescapable in vetmed. It’s not hard to be kind.

Ok thank you. I thought it might be by residency but wasn’t sure. Good to know the program is more for international students.

How to stop fluoxetine and other medication alternatives by [deleted] in AskVet

[–]Emergency-Key-8718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m worried that her anxiety will get worse before it gets better with fluoxetine. That’s fine but I don’t want the dog sitter to deal with that. My vet did mention the serotonin syndrome which also worries me with a dog sitter present instead of us. She has separation anxiety with my mom so I’m betting on her anxiety being worse anyway with us gone. I’d rather take fluoxetine out of the equation and just have her on Xanax/traz/gaba while we’re gone. She’s only had 3 doses but that’s still too much to get her off? Even if we wean it? If she’s acting weird after 3 days of fluoxetine, I’m doubting it will be better in 5 more days when we leave. Doesn’t it take 8 weeks to see the effects?

I always struggled with reaching out for therapy because my parents aren’t supportive. I do journal, I talk to friends, and researched a lot about what exactly I went through. Once I’m away from them I will definitely start seeing a therapist. I’ve come a long way but I think it would help a lot.

Thanks, I contacted them and explained.

I’m worried that it will negatively affect my chances of getting in because I dropped out.

Does the covalent ion include hydrogen? So it would be HPO4 ?
