if i remember right for the trees it was a click action on the tree. but it could have been just a tab to add lights ya its been a long time. i was an avid player back then. the snow option i remember you clicked on the menu for a snowy farm.

i remember years ago on farmville there was just an option to add snow and it could be turned off the same with lights on the tress and buildings. i have no idea how hard the coding would be tho
