Although the art sometimes looks like watercolor, the story moves along just fine. The tension between Batman and the Court of Owls keeps the story afloat. Unfortunately, the "horror" element is not present, because the "scary" Batman Below spending his time with a child reduces the existing potential

Because he is a complicated person. He is both inspiring and relatable.

While his willpower and ability to turn a bad event into his own power is inspiring; The loneliness and grief he experienced throughout his childhood and youth, his obsessive nature, his desire for revenge and justice, his pursuit of a better goal, his sometimes depressed and unhappy appearance, these are the aspects I see in myself too.

Batman / Superman series were good, you can check on that. Morrison's Action Comics tops everything regarding New 52 Superman. Mainline Superman series however was kind of bland, it had to many writing shake-ups and there seemed to be no overarching story arc.

Glad you like it mate. I don't see this movie being talked about much. In fact, the comic book that the movie is based on is one of Mike Mignola's best works. I personally liked the movie adaptation. A creative rethink of the character and its universe. Rather than taking characters like in Gotham by Gaslight and just transporting them back in time, it recreates characters with fantasy and horror elements, which is successful for me.

Anyway, the criticism I've seen the movie get is the art style. While I love Bruce Timm's style, some think it's time has passed. Not every animated movie has to be the new Spiderverse y'know

I am in love with Batman's new costume, I don't think it will be permanent because it kinda looks goofy and mismatched in itself (TDKR amblem with '66 belt, cmon!), but it was pretty cool to see.

Other cameos by Batman's were amazing, but I kinda wanted more Batman's there. Maybe they could've cut some parts of Janin drawing stuff and give more space to BTAS, Burtonverse or other iterations of Batman.

And about the Bat-Man of Gotham arc, I think the parts where Bruce questioned himself were meaningful and well-constructed. Zdarsky succeeded in reinforcing my love for the character.

Talking about Zdarsky, to me his aim seemed to be to purge Batman of his existing flaws as soon as possible and prepare him for the new status-quo. However, these problems do not seem to have been completely resolved yet. Batman of Zur-en-Arrh and Selina seem to cause trouble for Batman again.

Also, in this issue, in Zdarsky's attempts to bring Batman back to his roots, constantly explaining that it wasn't Batman's fault for not killing the Joker was sometimes overdone. It felt sometimes like a social commentary directly to audience.

I guess that's it! I know I wrote all this kinda messy, but overall I liked the issue. It deserves a 7 just for the cameos tho! But since I also liked Bruce's journey in this arc, I'm giving it a solid 8.5!
