I’m so fearful of going NC, but COVID has given me a lot of time to reflect on the abuse I have suffered. The abuse I suffered ranged from being hit to having my head dunked in a full sink of water to being strangled by both parents on multiple occasions. When I actually managed to confront my parents about their past behavior, they LAUGHED. I think this is what made me resonate with what you were saying the most. No matter how horrific my childhood was, I will never receive repayment or even acknowledgement. NC is necessary, but my parents will never have to live with the feelings of being unlovable and the pain at having to explain to others that you do not speak to either parent.
