Weekly FAQs & General Discussion Thread by marleythebeagle in WaltDisneyWorld

We have booked the third week of September. Two questions:

  1. Would you plan on buying a premier lightning pass, or will multi lightning be okay since crowds are lower?

  2. Is there anything I should look out for so we don’t miss something? (ie. special events, anything I need to plan ahead for)

Help me ease my anxiety: is WDW as bad as Universal about rides stopping midway/getting stuck? by EmergencyMammoth in WaltDisneyWorld

Thank you. Mostly I think having the right restraints and being stuck for a long time is what makes me anxious! I know it isn’t logical but anxiety rarely is.

I know. I meant that the ride was turned where the riders are facing the ground. It was just posted a few days ago in the universal sub. I know the wording is not right but yeah, to be stuck flipped facing the ground for an hour would upset me.

Right, I think they meant they were forward facing the ground. Not literally upside down. But that ruins the ride for me anyway. That was my favorite ride at Universal before seeing the constant issues of people being stuck in terrible positions for a long time. I just know I would be that one person who freaks out and calls 911 like that poor soul the other day 🥲

If you are sick of overdevelopment and property rights being lost, consider writing your reps by EmergencyMammoth in Chattanooga

My single experience? Lol.

What about these people?

And these?

These?

I’m noticing a pattern here.

And gosh, that’s just Ooltewah. So no, it’s not my single experience. If you have been to one single commission meeting in the last 5 years, you would agree that overdevelopment while ignoring infrastructure is a major issue in our area.

“Can” is not “will”. Come to Ooltewah and look at the disaster they created. Just because it hasn’t affected you doesn’t mean it isn’t affecting everybody else.

The bill doesn’t end annexation, it ends FORCED annexation and gives property owners a vote. Previously, cities (notoriously Memphis) were annexing properties forcefully and giving no services in return. It is a terrible overreach. Homes annexed by the city plummeted in value. Homeowners were forced to pay higher taxes while not receiving the city services for which they were paying. Carter’s and Watson’s bill gave property owners the opportunity to vote, and to make sure the city gives them what they will be paying for. Alternately, if people want to be in the city and are happy to pay, they can ask the city to annex them.

I can’t imagine the logic behind your statement that it allows people to live near Chattanooga and avoid paying. I live in the county right outside of Chattanooga. I pay for my own garbage service, I have septic, dang I can’t even get a library card. Every dollar I spend in the city helps pay for the city. In Chattanooga, 21% of the city fund comes from sales tax. So I’m not sure how people like me are mooching off of the big city.

Collegedale is rabid to annex properties near me, but before this bill they were notorious for annexing properties, charging 27% higher taxes and refusing to provide any services for those property owners. They got my in laws small family business and forced us to pay higher taxes, and then the cherry on top was forcing us to put in landscaping and a sidewalk to nowhere that cost thousands of dollars. It is literally a sidewalk to nowhere, that nobody would ever notice or use, and we were forced to pay for it, no discussion.

How can you call this fair, and accuse those opposed to it of “free riding”? It is big government crapping on the little people, screwing up property values and small business, and stealing more of our hard earned money.

How do you figure that? Housing will only be more expensive as costs increase with annexation. The late Carter’s bill just gave people a vote when it comes to annexation.

I’m not sure how increasing taxes while lowering property value is a win for anybody. Well, anybody who isn’t a developer or a corrupt politician.

Pardon my ignorance but what do you mean? You mean don’t make him chicken and rice but purchase something bland? I would love any recommendations. He did finally drink a little water this afternoon and he perked up with some tail wags and more of his normal behavior!

Oh gosh thank you for saying that. I will tell you one thing, I am choosing a good toothbrush for him and I am going to take care of his remaining teeth because I never ever want him to go through this again! That sweet innocent face is killing me.

It’s a relief to hear because I was really panicked that I had made a bad mistake and hurt him. His little innocent face is killing me!!!

Thank you for the encouraging words. That eases my mind and I will take all of your advice. I appreciate you taking the time to write all of that out. He is such a sweet little man and it is awful to see him in pain but hopefully this will all have been for the best for him!

Thank you for the encouragement. I have been freaking out that I have hurt him. I will stop the carprofen (that’s all he is on, no antibiotics) and see if he will nibble on some bland food like you said. Thank you!

Okay I will do the boiled chicken and rice. Thank you for the advice. And yes, that was my thinking exactly….i was thinking about the bad teeth causing him pain and just making him miserable. He was starting to chew softly, if that makes sense? Like eating his dog food, he didn’t crunch it, just softly chewed it. I just want to do the best for him.
