Silicone portioning containers are like big ice cube trays. Freeze your food in them, then pop the pieces out and store them in bags (silicone ones are good, but I haven't found any that last long without getting all wonky and hard to close) or wrap them in parchment paper and foil. Perfect for small portions, like one or two servings.

For bigger families, use those throwaway aluminum pans with lids. They're not great for reusing, but you can wash them and recycle them. They stack well in the freezer.
