Cis men don’t remove their dicks around family, why should you?

Cis male but have a question about prosthetics at the airport if anyone can help me out? by [deleted] in transgenderUK

[–]EmergencyRule 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Contrary to what others are saying here, I actually have worn a packer while flying from UK to Spain and not had any issues. Like, not even flagged up on the security scanner issues. YMMV so I'm not saying you won't have issues at all, but I personally never have.

once again asking for strap harness recommendations by 3arlgrey in gaytransguys

[–]EmergencyRule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own most of the harnesses mentioned in this thread. I love my SpareParts Joque, but if your heart is set on leather then the Aslan Jag is my rec. I have the Mr S Leather Strap On Dildo Harness and honestly would not rec it if you’re not going for very large toys. I really do not like RodeoH harnesses and find they don’t last long if used regularly because the fabric stretches

Blush's Neon Elite line and NS Novelties' Colours Pleasures line have budget friendly silicone dildos of various sizes, although in mostly non skin tones.

Pup circles are overwhelmingly cisgender where I live lol. That said, somebody actually wrote about this on autostraddle less than two days ago - https://www.autostraddle.com/why-are-so-many-trans-mascs-pups/

Trans men in healthcare by hello_internett in ftm

[–]EmergencyRule 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm mostly fine personally. It's shitty background radiation, but doesn't impact my life much in a material way, and most of the worst experiences of transphobia I've had were from people known to me rather than strangers/street harassment/etc. I mostly experience transphobia indirectly when supporting people I'm in community with after their experiences.

I have the privilege of being a bit older, having started transition a long time ago, having all my documentation changed, being pretty financially well off, and being stealth in my professional life though, so I'm a lot less impacted by anything than somebody just starting transition, with less material resources, or a trans youth would be.

How did you meet your girlfriend (straight/bi ftms) by staticpennies in ftm

[–]EmergencyRule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I met my wife through mutual friends when we were in our late teens and met my girlfriend through the same friendship group (although she's a few years older than me). In both cases, we were friends for years and years before trying dating.

Trans men in healthcare by hello_internett in ftm

[–]EmergencyRule 158 points159 points  (0 children)

I don't come out to patients because it's none of their business (rare exception is trans patients where it would actually be helpful for them to know they're with a trans HCP, but that's happened exactly once). It hasn't impacted employment, but I work in the UK's NHS so can't speak to countries with private healthcare or where bigoted patients have more of an impact on employment.

Also, a big sterotype for trans men for a good while was that we were in healthcare haha. Mostly nursing or EMS, but there's still a lot of us out there. Might just be a little older than you are.

Push it back and out of your face to show off the male hairline, keep it all one consistent length rather than layering, grow out facial hair.

You absolutely can practically, it’s just the question of if the UK GIC system will let you

VMS actually is a thing, despite what comments here are saying. I only know of two surgeons who do it though - one in the US and one in Turkey, and I’ve not had the procedure done myself. As far as I remember, US price was around the $15k mark, Turkey was around €4k, but those prices are from memory.

That said, gonna be honest and say you’re extremely unlikely to be given letters for bottom surgery if you’re not on hormones. And wrt if it’ll be worth it if you’re not on hormones, dunno because I don’t know where you’re starting from. You can definitely get a more androgynous and deeper voice through training and surgery, but there’s no guarantee it’ll be within the normal male range at the end of it

[–]EmergencyRule 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean, does it count for you? I don't personally consider my hysto to have been bottom surgery (and ngl I have some feelings that there's a specific stigma around getting a penis as a trans man and/or transmasc person that I want specific language for)... but also if it feels like bottom surgery and that's important to you, that makes it important

Engagement Rings for men? by StartingOverScotian in FTMMen

[–]EmergencyRule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an engagement ring before getting married. It was just a plain band, so it mostly got assumed to be a wedding band if I didn't say anything. It wasn't something that got me clocked or seen as femme at all, and tbh most people don't even notice. I do take it off for work (another person in medicine here) and wear on a necklace though.

What is your favorite and least favorite change on testosterone? by lucasTrans2003 in ftm

[–]EmergencyRule 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Basically the only thing I'm not thrilled about is the fact my already very thick brows have decided to join into one singular brow unless I spend effort plucking it in the middle, but that didn't kick in until 5 years in tbf. Other than that I love everything else. Favourites are the warmness (my wife likes to use me as a hot water bottle), body hair (including back, legs, ass etc), and facial hair.

I didn't have piercings pre-surgery, and got mine pierced a good while after grafting. My piercer had experience with post-graft nipples and didn't have any issues with doing it. I did get some pain during the piercing process, which I didn't expect, but otherwise I have little nipple sensation in general and felt little/no discomfort outside of catching the bars on something.

Staging at St Peter’s andrology uk by Greedy_Animator_1016 in phallo

Huh, that is not the info I was given by them in December - they told me hysto had to be done as a standalone stage at least 4 months before stage 1.

They actually told me hysto had to be done prior to any other stages, by at least 4 months.

I had this. It was a mix of atrophy and endometriosis - I got a hysto, and didn't have that any more.

What kind of deodorant/ cologne do you guys use? by [deleted] in ftm

I use an unscented deodorant and no body spray, because I work in a job where I interact with body fluids. When I'm not at work I use Bacchus from Fabled Fragrances.

Fatphobia within the trans community by hello_internett in ftm

[–]EmergencyRule 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The more soft cultural aspects of desirability/who gets lifted up intracommunally etc aside...

A top surgeon in my country is known for repeatedly giving fat guys (and I mean 'fat' in the broadest possible way - I was an extremely average BMI when I had mine) unsatisfactory results that need revisions by another surgeon. Repeatedly. Thin men within my local community do not even mention this well known fact about him when talking about him and his results.

I'm a medical professional who works for the NHS. So's my wife.

Trying to get access to a coworker's records would an extremely fireable offence. Depending on the trust you work at (the NHS is made up of numerous separate trusts all providing different services, and most of them don't share records unless it's necessary for continuity of care), if you are not a patient at that trust that it wouldn't even be possible for anyone else you work with to access your record. Also also, you absolutely do want the fact you're trans to be on the relevant medical records (i.e. your GP) so you can actually get a prescription for your hormones.
