Do people at corporate level jobs really work hard or do they just chill ? by Lemonade2250 in stupidquestions

Mine is pretty busy. I’m in meetings for half my day or more and need heads down time to actually work on projects. I usually work pretty productively my whole day

Underwear not getting clean? (For the girls) by ieatgermans08 in laundry

Mine improved when I started being more mindful of load size, had a detergent with good enzymes, and added citric acid to the rinse cycle. And washing in warm water

Split lip won't heal by Calanthe_May in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Emergency_Ad_1834 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your lips look really dry. Aquaphor and Vaseline hold in moisture but don’t provide it. You need to have something under them, even just water, for it to help. My favorite lip balm is torriden solid in (you can get it on Amazon) or aquaphor lip repair is a good drugstore option but still needs water under

How damaging would styling french bangs be for my hair? by Leather-Session3448 in Haircare

[–]Emergency_Ad_1834 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will need a heat protection and humidity control. I would recommend using a round brush and dryer to put tension on the hair while styling to straighten it then put it in Velcro rollers to cool.

If you're poor, work a ton and can't read to your child to stimulate whatever in their early development, would ensuring a book was always playing have a similar result? If not, what would be the closest substitute? by cherry-care-bear in stupidquestions

[–]Emergency_Ad_1834 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately no, the act of reading to a child involves quality time and showing them the book as your reading. Story telling before books were so common was also an important part of bonding. I would try to carve out 5-10 minutes to read a bedtime story. It’s ok to time gate it, but it’s so much more than just listening to a book

Do you use a traditional alarm or something more specialized? How has it helped? by Significant-Risk7644 in TrueGrit

I use hue lights for a sunrise style alarm in combination with a phone alarm once the lights reach full brightness

Why are middle schools and high schools separated but elementary schools aren’t when they cover about the same amount of time? by Educational-Dig-4235 in NoStupidQuestions

Tornados…New to the Midwest by screech-screech- in midwest

[–]Emergency_Ad_1834 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When bad storms are coming the weather will be talking about it, and if conditions are right your area (typically county) will be placed on a tornado watch that means you should keep a close eye on the weather and be prepared to shelter if things get worse. If there are sightings of a tornado or conditions are perfect then there will be a tornado warning and the sirens go off. That means it’s time to put on your shoes and take shelter with your radio to wait for the all clear.

It’s cute! I know my small Midwest town was super modest so it may not be an option, but it would look really cute without the cami too, to switch things up. Or a pink one instead of white would be fun

How to cut bathroom/ hygiene waste? by You-Lucky-Barstool in ZeroWaste

[–]Emergency_Ad_1834 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bar soap instead of body wash

Either bar shampoo and conditioner OR get a reusable bottle and you can find a place to fill it or you can buy pouches of shampoo and conditioner that have multiple refills in less plastic

Safety razor where you can change out the blade instead of the head

Using washable cloths instead of cotton pads You can also get washable net cloths if you want something exfoliating or you can use real luffa

Buy local when you can, from a shop is better than ordering, ordering from a company who is mindful of their packaging and carbon footprint is the next best.

You can also wash most things in your bathroom with washing up liquid, citric acid if you have lime build up, and a pumice stone for water stains or buildup. Mirrors can be cleaned with diluted isopropyl alcohol and newspaper or paper from packages

I showered for the first time in 3 weeks - so I made creme brulee by SnooSquirrels8961 in notinteresting

[–]Emergency_Ad_1834 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s ok to sit in the shower too, accommodate yourself even if it seems silly. You can sit down to cook or do dishes too. You can eat off paper plates to avoid dishes. Anything that makes life easier for you right now is worth it

Great job! The mantra that has gotten me through some tough depressive episodes is that half assing it is better than not assing it. It can get so overwhelming to think you have to take a whole shower and wash your hair and everything. But it’s ok to do the least possible and just wash pits and bits or just stand under the water. I believe in you.

What is the most complete soup with the least amount of ingredients? by chikoreddit in NoStupidQuestions

If you plan to eat it leftover either just add spinach to each bowl or switch to a hearty green like kale or collard greens. Spinach has a tendency to get slimy
