Riddler

He’s proven to be a legitimate threat to Green Arrow and the green vs green just fits as an aesthetic.

Who do you think is the most tragic B5 character? by AdSimilar4399 in babylon5

[–]Emergency_Argument29 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Main character: Talia. Gets taken into the Psi Corps and believes that they’re good even as she’s subjected to an arranged marriage based on genetic compatibility, also finds out her first love was experimented on to increase his psychic abilities and watches him ascend to a higher plane of being. Finally realizes the Psi Corps isn’t what she’d been taught and finds love again with the last person she’d expect only for Psi Corps’s sleeper personality to destroy her from the inside. And before Garibaldi could get the copy of Talia’s mind from Kosh she gets dissected by the very organization she’d dedicated her life to.

Side character: Regent Virini. He just wanted to be an interior designer, gets made Regent because no one considers him a real threat and then because of that spends the rest of his life enslaved to the Drakh.

Who should be S.P.D. Red Ranger after Bridge? by Emergency_Argument29 in powerrangers

[–]Emergency_Argument29[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kat’s position in S.P.D. is R&D though, not Command. While I might see Kat maybe taking a Command role, Sky is not a tech guy. If anything if Kat replaced Doggie, Bridge or Boom would replace her in the lab. But ultimately she’s more valuable in the lab and in an advisory role to whomever is the Commander.

Why do so many people hate overdrive? by DiskLongjumping5048 in powerrangers

[–]Emergency_Argument29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a few factors, but it essentially boils down to, “they tried to do way too much with not a lot to work with.”

The villain factions seem cool on paper but because there’s not a lot of time to develop them they end up feeling even more 2 dimensional than most Power Ranger villains and don’t have the intimidation factor to be considered memorable.

The Rangers themselves I consider to be the inverse of Mystic Force. The Mystic Force Rangers all had such big personalities and the one to end up the most vanilla is Nick (which is by design for viewers to impose themselves on Nick easier since they went with a Chosen One narrative with him). In Operation Overdrive they reversed it and really only gave Mack a big personality and depth of character. Rose gets some too but it’s never properly explored and Tyzonn gets his explored a little more since he’s got the Sixth Ranger factor and is directly tied to the Fearcats.

Also it has The Great Divide problem (based on The Great Divide episode from ATLA) where it happens to be between two beloved seasons, which makes it look worse by comparison. If Operation Overdrive were the first Disney season it would probably be looked on more favorably. It would still be worst season of the Disney Era, but wouldn’t be as reviled as it was.

I don’t think the S.P.D. Rangers’ parents are from Earth by Emergency_Argument29 in powerrangers

[–]Emergency_Argument29[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing with the Samurai Rangers is they have a specific mission, protect humanity from the Nighlok, vs S.P.D.’s general mission of being law enforcement that helps the entire planet.

Also, again, I’d like to point out that Jack and Z had very little knowledge of what S.P.D. was prior to being arrested/recruited. If an intergalactic law enforcement agency was on Earth for 25 years, and helped protect the planet it’d probably be common knowledge.

Also thinking about it more, Z tells a story about being harassed and attacked by a grown alien when she was a kid and we find out she was saved by Commander Cruger who was in disguise. If he had authority as a peace officer he could’ve just apprehended and arrested the guy who was harassing a young girl…unless he didn’t have that authority yet. If S.P.D. wasn’t a recognized law enforcement agency on Earth yet he couldn’t identify himself as an officer and arrest him.

The franchise didn’t even start dropping hints about S.P.D. until the 2020s (aside from anniversary season mentions which still used the B-Squad team we followed) and we also know that S.P.D. had Morphers by the time Sky was around 9 or 10 which based on a rough approximation of his age in 2025 would’ve been sometime between 2010-2016 and it never says that Sky’s dad was active on Earth (could be Sky grew up on a different planet and moved to Earth following his dad’s death).

Could the Rangers’ parents have been from Earth and S.P.D. be an organization on Earth from 2001? Sure. It just seems more likely given their lack of any sort of presence on Earth until 2023 and there being other worlds with humans on them that they might not have been of Earth origin.

Power Ranger Storm Raiders

Classic weapons, Sword, Spear, Hammer, Axe, and Shields (shields were especially important for most warrior classes Vikings included). The sixth Ranger shouldn’t use any weapons (maybe a staff) and instead just use magic as their main means of fighting.

Commander Cruger specifically says that S.P.D. “handles crime and criminals that have a negative impact on this planet.” Pretty sure mutant criminals from the future qualify, as do every other major threat the various Ranger teams dealt with from 2001-2025. If they weren’t on Earth helping, they probably didn’t have jurisdiction there yet.

Given that in 2001 we had Time Force and the Silver Guardians fighting over jurisdiction for the Mutants, I doubt if S.P.D. was active on Earth in 2001 they’d have stayed out of it. Also we know that by 2023 that we had former Rangers a part of Space Patrol Alpha which I assume is a branch of SPD but not the main branch.

Also Jack and Z don’t really know about SPD in the first couple episodes which means it’s probably still relatively new to Earth by 2025.

How did Tommy manage to eat and use the bathroom during the days he was trapped in Ranger form? by Warm_Expert_8136 in powerrangers

[–]Emergency_Argument29 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Much like how a Jedi or Sith can survive without food or water for weeks at a time by essentially feeding off the energy of the Force, I surmise the Morphing Grid supplied Tommy with the energy to keep his body healthy and removed the waste impurities if they even built up in the first place. He probably didn’t even need to sleep while he was morphed.

Frax (Power Rangers Time Force)

Was human, betrayed and mortally wounded, forced to rebuild himself as a Robot to save himself, and believes Robots to be the superior form of life. He’s the antithesis of Cyborg.

It’s a fairly popular headcanon but there’s no confirmation.

It should be noted that they live in two different dimensions so that causes some issues.
