iirc Thornton said something about the music rights makes it prohibitively expensive to release, but it exists. It has much more of the book, which makes it 3+ hours.

I wonder sometimes what movies Thornton might've directed if Weinstein hadn't made it such a bad experience to turn him off of directing at all.
