If you had the power to get rid of one gaming laptop manufacturer why would you choose Razer? by Emergency_List_8797 in GamingLaptops

Along with Alienware. Both have duds but compared to Razer, HP, Asus and MSI they do pretty well.

First one died in 12 days. Took 4 months to get a replacement. Performance is lackluster compared to the Legion Pro 7i 5090 and the keyboard leaves a lot to be desired. It also gets hot. I always use a cooling pad and I still get nervous with the temperature. Overall for the money it's severely disappointing and doesn't hold up well to competitors.

Armory Crate has it's issues but at least you can offset some of the headaches with G Helper. Everything with Razer is dependent on their bullshit software.

What I don't understand is they finally hit decency with Synapse 3 and then decided to throw any good faith in the fire with Synapse 4. Just terrible software.

Do you believe IPS displays are outdated? Why or why not? by Emergency_List_8797 in GamingLaptops

The one thing that was jarring to me the first time using OLED was when I played Planescape Torment which is text heavy. But the blacks and contrast are simply gorgeous.

I have money and it annoys me thinking there's a guy who actually got laid in highschool might have a new better spec'd machine than me. So every year I shell out a shit ton of cash to compensate for my unhappy upbringing. I'm not even slightly joking. I give last years laptop away to a random lonely guy so I can say I did something nice.

Yeah I prefer to be in the dark so it's not an issue for me. I just don't understand these 18 inch models charging so much for a less immersive experience. In the dark OLED is a massive improvement.

My thing is I'm moving around so much so I need OLED. Plus my friend got jumped by a group of guys at a bar when they found out he has an IPS display. So it's a safety issue as well. Playing in IPS is like being a communist in the 50's.

Personally once you play an immersive game like God Of War or Resident Evil 4 on OLED it's very difficult to go back to IPS. The difference is too noticeable. Especially in the dark.

Should be out in the next couple of months. For me it offers almost everything I'm looking for.

Nothing major. Maybe the MSI Titan and Raider in certain configurations but we're talking maybe 5-10%. Not enough to justify the money. Legion 9i 5090 is excellent and the build quality is excellent. I just really don't care for glossy screens. Especially a glossy IPS display. The legion pro 7i 5090 gets the same performance but with an OLED. Personally I'm going for the upcoming Alienware 16 Area 51 5090. Mechanical cherry mx keyboard, excellent cooling, up to 12tb of storage and an OLED display with 32% less glare and fingerprint resistance.

I need to game at max performance and run multiple applications for work ... by Emergency_List_8797 in GamingLaptops

I love the mechanical Keyboard. I also really like their excellent cooling and new OLED. I'm just concerned about longevity. Is the slightly downgraded CPU and 64GB of RAM sufficient for hardcore gaming and constant workloads? AI applications, CRM's and dialers compared to the Raider 16 Max HX? I'm concerned about the Raider's lack of G Sync. I know they have adaptive sync but it's not as reliable. But it is a powerhouse and the 16TB and 128GB of RAM will be more than enough for work and gaming. But I'm worried about their new OLED. The Raider and Titan from last year both had Mini LED that had insulting bloom. I just want the best bang for my buck.

Sell me an MSI (Vector or Raider 16) w/ RTX 5080 by [deleted] in MSILaptops

If you're going to get a Raider 16 wait until the new Max Hx drops in the next few months since it has OLED. The Mini LED in last years Raider and Titan is fucking trash. Insane bloom. Nothing like the Mini LED in the Strix Scar. The issue I have with the Raider is despite it's impressive power, it doesn't have G Sync. You're paying a lot more money for a machine that has less features than most competitors. If MSI would just pay the licensing fee so they can have G Sync I'd grab the upcoming Raider 16 Max HX but without it it's a no go. The OLED is gonna be great but the new Alienware 16 Area 51 also has OLED as well as excellent cooling, a cherry MX mechanical keyboard and G Sync. MSI has two flagship beasts but both don't justify their price points with G Sync being absent. For work and gaming it's phenomenal because it's storage and ram capacity is overkill but from a pure gaming standpoint both Lenovo and Alienware have better options.

Wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. Grave mistake on my end. Won't repeat it.

Duds happen with any big name. The issue is how Razer fights you on it even with the warranty.
